CW's said Stearman brought in to cope with the physicality of Millwall

If he wasn't a "journeyman" he wouldn't be treated like this, getting dropped every 5 or 6 games regardless of how well he plays.

Can see why Wilder wanted more physicality in there against a side like that, but Stearman just didn't step up.

Form the little I have seen of Stearman I don’t think he suits a back three. A back four may be a different story.

I don’t see why Stearman would deal with physicality better than Wright. I wouldn’t describe him as intimidating, in fact to me if anything, he looks a bit lightweight. Think a big Chris Morgan type centre half will be on the shopping list come January.

Stearman isn' a physical player so that statement implies he was coming in regardless and he dropped Wright rather than CCV. If we are sticking to a back 3 and Stearman is playing we need to tram him woth JOC anf Wrigjt and it's time to drop CCV.

Wilder has not got many signings wrong; but think Stearman has been poor. Not sure he has had a good game when he has played. CCV is erroneous but at least he has had some good games.

Got to be Basham, Wright, O'Connell next Friday assuming Baldock is back.

He will bring Sharp back in for Brooks who outside of his goal did nothing and looked disinterested for long spells. Clarke gets a pass on his previous form. The front two were as bad as the defence today. The midfield were not too bad but the two other sides of the team really poor.

In the first 5 minutes I noticed Stearman marshalling the defence and assumed that was why he'd been brought in as it needs a captain in there.

Stearman and Wright won’t play in a back three together unless we have an injury crisis, both of them are only going to fit the centre role, for me Wright is the better of the two at it.

While I don't particularly rate Stearman highly, he wasn't the problem at all today. It was J o'C who lost the ball and left his side of the back three wide open for the second goal.

Then Billy will get pelters for doing the same. Oh well.

Jake Wright brings a sense of control to the rest of the team.

He runs his game on a 2 or 3 touch manner and talks other players through games - he is without doubt a much needed influence.

We went gung ho again and sadly paid the price v Millwall.

We shouldn't come off the front foot but the defence HAS to be more solid and composed when needed.

Replacing Jake with Stearman on a regular basis will make things worse.

. Brooke’s has got a lot to learn about the game. Not ready to be in the starting eleven in my opinion.

I've never seen this love in with O'Connell. He's ok, but he's still capable of a rick and from where I've been in the South Stand he has made a few. However, far worse has been CCV. Yes he's a young lad, but so what? He makes too may mistakes. Is there some rule that if you are a young lad you can fuck up 20 times a season whilst you only get 10 fuck ups aged over 26? A fuck up is a fuck up however old the fucker up happens to be. I never notice Wright because he does his job properly and he can read a game.

But we all think he' worth 10-20m so hes got to be good enough for the first 11 otherwise he's worth 2m at most

O Connell has been great for us and his marauding runs up field help us.

One thing o Connell needs to get better at is putting his headers in.

As regards CCV yes he’s had a couple of bad games.

I agree with that, with the exception of your spelling. Brooks has great potential but I believe, despite SWFC, he is best introduced off the bench in the second half as the opposition tires, he is skilful and quick, but is physically and experience wise, still very much a boy.

What Billy lacks in pace he more than makes up for with his strikers instinct, guile and goal scoring experience. He has everything that Brooks lacks and vice versa, but as we know. you can't buy experience. I've heard it suggested that Billy should play first half and Brooks the second, which as a general guide, isn't probably as daft as it sounds.

With you totally. Good player, possibly going to be a premiership player, but headless chicken if required to do defensive duties in this team. This is a high intensity attacking pressing side (or was). He's a luxury in it for games against such as Millwall. I don't disagree that on form you could say he was worth a start because Billy is having a quiet period but you have to accept he is not Billy and we are half a player down defensively when he plays.

Agree. Love the runs. It's position that I see isn't quite right, but we all see different stuff.

Don't you know that Stearman is the scapegoat with some even though this was only his 4th start this season ?

We all don't think he's worth owt like the figures being bandied about on here, a lot of improvement is needed to be talked about at those prices.

Personally Jake Wright would be one of the first names on the team sheet week in week out.

I might even let him tickle my balls.

That said I don't honestly believe I know better than Wilder and Knill so whilst having my opinion, I'm willing to let them make the decisions, for a while longer at least :)
