Jake Wright

It was 'footballing' in quotation marks in my actual comment, by which I meant his ball control and passing. Tackling and blocking are nothing to do with that.
Appreciate that, but as a defender I’d rather their strongest asset be defending and stopping the opposition. In a 3 man defence I reckon there’s room for both types

Agree, Wright has showed he can bring that. Wilder probably hopes Stearman or CCV can bring that plus some extra, whch they didn't at the Den.

Absolutely love Jake Wright, but he is dropped because: he can only play in the middle of the 3, he is slow, he isn't very tall or strong, he is the worst 'footballing' centre half out of the 5 and most importantly because Wilder thinks that in-form Stearman will be a better player than in-form Wright.
For Saturday though I fully expect Wright to come back in, he has the best recent form out of him, Stearman and CCV.

Wilder knows best? That'll never catch on on here.

Stearman's transfer from Fulham to United "end[ed] a difficult couple of years at Craven Cottage where the former Leicester City and Wolves defender never quite fulfilled the brief of a dominant and physical centre back who was tasked with shoring up a rickety Fulham defence. Stearman arrived on transfer deadline in August 2015 and, despite making 30 league appearances in his first season with the club, failed to stem the alarming flow of goals conceded as the Whites drifted towards the drop zone."

Good character, nice guy, lots of experience at this level, but not seemingly a "dominant and physical centre back".

Fooled Fulham as well as Tufty then. Impressive.

Stearman Thomas and Henegan, all shite. Add Lundstram CCV and Jamal and it's clear to see why we're in the bottom three, err, wait.....

In the first 5 minutes I noticed Stearman marshalling the defence and assumed that was why he'd been brought in as it needs a captain in there.
oh yeah, jake wright isn't a leader or a captain. of course. forgot about that.

CW has made ‘unforced’ changes on 4 occasions and we have lost them all, I maybe missing something? I do understand the need or thought process for the rotation, tiredness etc. ‘In Wilder we trust’ but just play your best team! also Blackman is not our best keeper!?

What happened to the lad we had on loan last season ?
Harry Chapman was it ?

So you understand the need for rotation tiredness etc but say "just play your best team" How's that work?

In your opinion JB isn't our best keeper. It would appear our manager ( as well as quite a few fans) doesn't agree, currently at least. Moore received criticism at times, for similar errors, in the usual Blades way, he's now fondly remembered as being up there with Lev Yashin.

Two players for every position is the concept. That's because of the high tempo game we try to play. He watches the players in training, can see if they are sluggish or tired and will watch videos of the opposition. Then makes his decisions. As he no doubt did last year.

It's a very good point. But can't help wondering whether the principle of rotation in the position we're in (budgetary constraints, limitations in the squad, etc) is the best one?

In a way it's difficult to argue against beefing up the defence for a game like that, or putting an extra midfielder in to strengthen central areas for certain games. But it does go against the principle of "let them worry about us, rather than us about them". And it does undermine stability in key areas.

Ultimately though CW has to make the difficult decisions. It's a juggling act - Brooksy needs "keeping happy" if we're going to keep him; Billy's the talisman & similarly needs keeping happy; we're probably a bit overloaded with central defenders who themselves need keeping happy & interested. I don't know - it just seems with JW that maybe it's felt he should be grateful being here &, however well he plays, should just accept that he'll need to step aside in favour of others. Form-wise, he's been every bit as good as Jack O'Connell this season IMO.

This all day long, keep the winning team, their professional footballers and the argument that they need a rest doesn't wash with me, if that was the case then why isn't the whole quad rotated, there's a number of players who Wilder wouldn't rotate Flexk being 1 and Ciutts was the other.

Keep to what we did last year STICK WITH A WINNING TEAM.

why drop him then?
If we signed Hummels, Ramos and Bonucci, Jake Wright would still have a great win percentage and not be crap, as well as our other CB's.
I would, however, make the tough call to drop our regulars and play the new signings.

and if the new signings didn’t play well and looked off the pace??..

With you totally. Good player, possibly going to be a premiership player, but headless chicken if required to do defensive duties in this team. This is a high intensity attacking pressing side (or was). He's a luxury in it for games against such as Millwall. I don't disagree that on form you could say he was worth a start because Billy is having a quiet period but you have to accept he is not Billy and we are half a player down defensively when he plays.
Sorry I put a e in Brooks. It seems to offend some!!!

I agree with that, with the exception of your spelling. Brooks has great potential but I believe, despite SWFC, he is best introduced off the bench in the second half as the opposition tires, he is skilful and quick, but is physically and experience wise, still very much a boy.

What Billy lacks in pace he more than makes up for with his strikers instinct, guile and goal scoring experience. He has everything that Brooks lacks and vice versa, but as we know. you can't buy experience. I've heard it suggested that Billy should play first half and Brooks the second, which as a general guide, isn't probably as daft as it sounds.

UTB
What’s this with the spelling thing. You know who I meant didn’t you!! All this fuss over a Eeeeee!
