Who railroaded Wilder into buying him?

Lads been injured. I'd say it's a bit early to make such a damning judgement.
A player on the way down
He has been available for a good few weeks now.
Didn’t impress in the friendlies or against Brentford

Based on what? Someone else's say so? Or seeing him in one actual competitive game?

Who railroaded Wilder into buying him?

Bit of a shame just had to wade through the bickering/flirting on this post, but-

I bloody love Jake Wright. He's never let us down, come from a lower level and done us proud. Proper, proper defender- not going to smash anyone or win any huge headers, but he can read it, knows his game, bit of a wanky cliché but knows the art of defending, a bit like Lee Sandford did (or Paul McGrath but obviously nowhere near as good).

But- he's not physically imposing or commanding in any way. I reckon in our 3, you need that central player to be just that, set the tone, be a leader. He'd be good on either side of someone more dominant, but with our two bombing on (which he couldn't do and neither could most centre halves) we can't have him there either.

So aye, he's the first dropped to the bench and probably rightly so. But he's class and won't let us down, bloody love the bloke

Wilder was under pressure at the to bring a CH in we needed one.
The quality and what we wanted to pay were the major factors we ended up with Stearman a journeyman CH past his sell by date.

Stearman was intended to be first choice
I think now we have him the realisation is that he's ok as a stop gap but we need speed in the back line, I think we can just about get away with it with Stevens and Baldock both playing but (opinion) I think we need more speed in at least one of the other positions across the back and Stearman certainly doesn't provide this. I know my man Mitchell will be on the case so am expecting a lower league super fast defender in in January to reduce the threat of your Leicester's Fulham's and anybody else with Olympic speed in their forward line, this'll leave Stearman bench warming picking up his last 'payday' but not all transfers come off.

Isn't he 30?

Anybody thinking we need more pace at centre half should take notice of other teams' centre halves. Very few have a lot of pace.

Our defence is far from slow anyway, most of them are good athletes, in different ways.

He seems to have an amazing ability, demonstrated both against Fulham and v Birmingham, when facing two against one situations to shepherd the player bearing down on goal to a less dangerous area, prevent him passing, and then pick him off with a lunging tackle.

He's done it three times in the last two games now. Got such poise and calmness, a really clever footballer.

That is a brilliant and very perceptive assessment of one of Jake's greatest attributes and one which, in my long history of watching the game, has usually been the preserve of only the finest players in his role and by that I mean the likes of Joe Shaw, Bobby Moore and Franz Beckenbaur.

I'm not saying that his overall game is on a par with these legends of the game but the mere fact that this aspect of his game can be compared to their's is quite astonishing to me, given the fact that he has spent virtually all his career in the lower divisions of English football.

Love him to bits and up there with my all time Blades defensive heroes.

McCabe. It is a long game tax dodge to make more money when he sells Brooks to a Cayman Island hedge fund.

Thought you'd have knbow that Sean Thornton

McCabe? I thought he'd gone and The Prince was now running the club on a day to day basis. I'm sure I read it on here over the weekend, in between the scapegoat posts.

He's sat in a hollowed out volcano stroking a white cat and thinking about Pussy Galore.

By selling Brooks through an off shore fund he can increase his tax losses. If he aggregates that with the Prince's bog roll losses for all that suff that's wasted by being flushed down the loo, he will be quids in.

Forcing CW to buy Stearman for £750k (book value £50m) allows another tax loss and he can use sub section 42.3 relief to deduct the money for Ched and make a double repayment relief gain.

Basically McCabe will net about £50m if we sell Brooks for £5m, so there's a case of Peroni in it for CW to keep him quiet.

Scapegoating Lundstram isn't tax effective yet, so McCabe will force CW to buy back Che Adams in the JTW so we maximise the tax losses.

It's quite simple really.

That’s exactly what people said when he recruited Jake Wright....

He was very good. I saw the greats.
Italy have had some world class defenders and tacticians in their time but even their best players say no one comes close to Baresi. Him and Maldini conceded 23 goals in 196 games for AC Milan, that’s some defending and he has to be a great of the game.

He’s had his number 6 shirt retired from AC Milan.

Whilst I agree that Stearman was brought it to replace Wright, I think the injury has seen others step up to the plate (perhaps to Wilder's surprise).

I actually see Stearman as 5th choice DC now...and considering Basham is likely to move into the back 3 very shortly, so does Tufty.
