Incoming? Jake Cooper

The one positive about JOC's injury is that he won't be sold in the summer, can't see anyone taking a gamble on him after a season ending injury.

Can't see much interest in Egan anyway, he's decent enough but in his late twenties, unlikely to inprove too much and is too unfashionable for most PL sides.

From what Wilder has said I can see JOC being available from March onwards that gives him 2/3 months to prove his fitness prior to a potential move.
I would much prefer us to sign loan player and then sort things when we know where we are next season.

With the way things are looking I can't see us getting Cooper if we do go down... So as a Championship plan B, I would have Jake Clarke-Salter as permanent LCB backup to JOC, we need serious competition in this position as JOC may never return to what he was, so 2 first team quality CB's are required.

If we go down I would also be looking at getting in some young players as successors for the CB/RCB roles. One is Luke Woolfenden and i'd also take a look at Lewis Montsma at Lincoln City, 22 y.o CB who's having a brilliant season at Lincoln City in L1.

I hope we've all got some cash left! Loan to buy would be great (ideally with Bryan heading in the opposite direction), but I'd imagine all the teams we're dealing with are after a cash sale to get the reddies in at the moment.

I had a smile at that when I think that whatever we've spent, it has been out of last and this season's gross money plus parachute payments to come, in total, heading towards roughly, I'm struggling to say this in a sentence with Sheffield United in it, in excess of a quarter of a billion pounds.

At the end of this season, Sheffield United will have been guaranteed in excess of a quarter of a billion pounds income.

There, I've said it again.

Phew!

I don't see the late 20s thing being too much of an issue.

No re-sale value, but if you can pick him up for £10-15m & get 4 seasons out of him it's a decent purchase.

Always rated Clarke-Salter since he played against us whilst on loan for Bristol Rovers in L1 and kept an eye on him since. Not sure how he's done in his recent loan spells.

He's done well at Birmingham City last season cementing a 1st team place and was one of there best performers (got the same rating as Bellingham that season), however doesn't seem to have kicked on as well this season on loan again there (1 app), although could be down to other reasons.

Heard very good things from Chelsea fans pre-season, saying he should stay. He is still developing at 23 years old, he is a rare breed (Left footed CB) and one of the only affordable options alongside Cooper and Davies, he is probably the lesser of those 2 by small margins, but has 2 years more than both of them to develop
