Perhaps it was clear that we couldn’t afford him and couldn’t get close at that time.

Selling a player and releasing wages from that player as well as perhaps his willingness to reduce his demands, could bring the two parties closer together

Having worked for a large US company I found them refreshingly pragmatic.

They try stuff and aren't ashamed to change thier minds when they know what they didnt before .

One of the senior VP's once said " You'll never see the pitfalls untill you try something, just learn quick , change it and move on.

When looking at the decision making at sufc some might see it as U turns or not having a plan. I shouldn't think that bothers the owners in the slightest . Football is very fluid in terms of players and managers . Lots of moving parts so I wouldn't be surprised to see a few comings and goings whilst we all wonder what the plan is and how it looks by August.

No one has ever got him up to speed. He's made just over 200 appearances in his entire career!

Perhaps both these transactions should be viewed in the context of all transfers in the next 2 months.

Where he plays it's a lot about reading the game I agree about his mobility but from what I've seen he's not that bad.
It makes a huge difference if you get a full pre season to your little niggles and general fitness. This is why Phillips needs to be to be sorted ASAP.
If we can sort Souttar out ( hopefully ) and baptiste can bring his form for Rotherham into this coming season defensively we aren't far off .(my rovrum mate raves about him )
