Jags?

Personal opinion but I think he is awful....gets caught out of position, doesn't read the game well, slow and awkward. the penalty against Barnet was a perfect example, Stearman was level with the attacker, he then just stopped for some reason which left the guy in acres of space and the "tackle" was clumsy at best but coming in from behind after letting an attacker steal 2 or 3 yards on you, it was always going to be!

Have you seen Jags recently?

I’ll give you poor defending but he was never level with the forward and didn’t “stop”.

OK....he doesn't "stop" but he pauses....if he carries on running he gets alongside or in front of the Barnet Player and makes a more sensible challenge instead of from behind which was always going to result in a penalty. It was pathetic defending all round to be honest, Freeman dangles a leg, Johnson does absolutely nothing and Stearman gets caught up field and is then out of position. At the start of the counter attack, Dowell is in front of Mason-Clark but lets him run past and then makes no attempt to track-back, however, Freeman & Johnson should deal with things comfortably but fail miserably.

That slight pause is very odd. No reason for it. He’s got to get between the player and the goal. Where does he imagine a ball in is going to go? Basic stuff as you say.

I think he was anticipating some kind of challenge from the two players who should have dealt with it.

Why? What's he done wrong?

Have you ever seen Basham play for us? Jagielka isn't nearly mobile enough for that role.
Didn’t say he was, I said he’s not reliable enough to play Egan’s position so the only other position would be on the right (if we signed him which I highly doubt we will). Cranie does it in a different style to Bash, Jags due to lack of mobility would probably have to adopt similar.

I would have liked Jags in the middle of the back 3 before we signed Egan but not now.
Crainie is a good player and we also have Stearman as back up

Like Michael Brown he's another player I can't wait to retire. It will stop the mentally challenged element of our support suggesting him as a decent signing every transfer window.
Same goes for Walker, Harry, Naughton, DCL, Adams, Brooks, ow errrrr
