We will and there isn't.

The Pigs have a fan who works on Sky Sports and gets to find everything about them out and trust me when I say this, he wouldn't be able to help himself blab this sort of thing out on Sky and everywhere else he could spout it, he's a reyt bellend.

I'm not that bothered to be honest mate for the reasons I stated on my first post. This isn't any number of my personal favourites joining them. I could list about 100 players ahead of Jags that I would have been really gutted if he'd joined the Pigs. Jags isn't one of them. To name a few, Deane, Agana, Booker, Holdsworth, Borbokis, Alan Kelly. They'd never join them anyway, and to be fair to Jags, there is no way I think he'd do that either.

Whether he signs for them or not... they'll never have the Phil Jagielka we had; exciting, young, athletic and quick. Don't forget he played the promotion season as a centre midfielder dominating all comers.

Never forget those goals against Leeds and Blackburn. Both defining moments.

To those so called Blades who actually accuse him of throwing the Wigan game .... shame on you... pathetic

I never said he threw the Wigan game. That implies he did it deliberately. It was just a moment of madness.

all these digs at Jags for that penalty against Wigan, does anyone feel the same about the needless red card Lowton got against Oldham?

probably not because at the end of the day I don't believe players are purposely going out to ruin our club. Get over it.

does anyone really believe that in the split second as the ball flies at him in the heat of the biggest game of the season he had the time to rationale the thought process you suggest? Really?! What if the ref misses it, what if we go up the other end and score, what ifs??? He's a professional player who gave years of good service to our club, has he previous to that moment, or at any point there after done anything to suggest he has a questionable attitude? No. As conspiracy theories go this is up there with Elvis is alive and aliens live on the moon. It was a shit day and a shit relegation, but you could highlight several points in that season that contributed to the perfect storm, blaming 1 man for 1 action in a 38 game season is scapegoating even us pessimistic buggers should rise above.

The ball was floated into the penalty area

He had the same thought process a goalkeeper would have had if the goalkeeper was going to catch it or punch it

They're very harsh medicals at the Sty. You have to carry Rhodes for ninety minutes.

Keep going, 6 down 94 to go.

Since 2000 there is only really Morgan that is up there with Jags as in ranking Blades legends for me.

To be fair, Unsworth, he of attempting to nick all our youth players fame, didn't help missing one pen and bottling another against Blackburn only to have regained his marksmanship for Wigan - who then released him. Or Tonge's needless foul vs Blackburn away. Can't say shipping 3 at Villa helped considering we went down on goal difference!

floated in....
what we we playing with that day, a crisp packet??!!
GK's practice that for years, punching is muscle memory.

exactly many things over the years have cost us and many more things in the coming years will cost us again, that's life, I find it ridiculous people are finding a way to justify slagging Jags off because it is very likely hebwobt be playing for us this coming season

And here's me thinking Jags is a fairly good goalkeeper

Exactly, Jags was player of the season in Premier League season, without him we'd have been relegated long before the Wigan match.

How does being our best player all season fit into the conspiracy theory?

Pointless looking back to Jags . Great goal against the Dirties, good memories . What's done is done so let's move on

Each to his own mate. He was a great player and I've never said stuff like he did it deliberately to get a move. He'd be in my best 11 all day long but favourite at the centre backs would go to Holdsworth and Morgan.

No idea if this is true or not. Although I think he'd be a great signing for us at this level, I still havent forgotten about his handball and how suspect it looked.

So if he were to go and sign for SWFC, he's an even bigger tw@t than I thought after the Hull game.
What happened "...after the Hull game" ?

The bloke is a club legend in my book, I'm just defending him when people are talking shit about him.

I agree that comments that inferred Jags did it to get a move are over the top, but at the end of the day, even fans like you who love Jags - who are probably in the majority - need to appreciate that when you handball like that in a game of that magnitude etc etc, you're opening the door for criticism, and for some, suspicion of intent. You can defend him to the hilt, and that's your preoperative, but then I've seen comments on here like those that criticise Jags aren't proper Blades etc. Who gives them the right to say that, just because an opinion is different to theirs? If I'd done the hand ball like he did, irrespective of how great Jags was for us in that season and before, I would expect criticism and I would have felt very embarrassed to say the least walking back into the dressing room on that day.

I was being totally sarcastic....Think the poster meant Wigan, I just played on the Hull part :)

I get it, I kept thinking what about Hull! I was fine with him leaving, there is no way I thought he would stay with us and £4m was a reasonable fee at the time. I was less keen though that it was a minimum fee because it obviously removed any chance of us getting even more if their was a bidding war but it wasn't like Paddy Kenny and his £750,000 release which was a joke!

Wasn't it a relegation release clause? Might have been the only way to tie him into a deal and the club was confident of staying up (lets be right, in April none of us were worried about relegation).

Why do people still go on about him as if he's our own player? He left a long, long time ago and hasn't bothered with us much since. He probably sees Pigsday as just another club and if the right offer was put on the table he would go there. I doubt that they'll make that offer, but the idea that he would turn it down just because he once played for us is head-in-the-clouds stuff.
