RELEGATED Sheffield United want to sign Kevin Phillips and Thomas Gravesen in a bid to get back to the big-time - but could lose Phil Jagielka to Everton today.
Boss Bryan Robson wants Gravesen, whose Parkhead move has turned into a disaster, on loan for a year but is reluctant to buy him outright in case they fail to gain promotion at the first attempt.
Robbo is also ready to raid old club West Brom with a £800,000 swoop for Phillips, whom he signed from Aston Villa.

Everton boss David Moyes is ready to sign Jagielka in a £4million deal - and rush him into his pre-season training camp. The Goodison club have come up with the money to activate the get-out clause in his contract now the Blades have lost their fight against relegation and Moyes wants the deal done fast.
Jagielka, whose last-day handball against Wigan proved so costly, is also keen to return to the club who let him go as a kid despite rival offers from Wigan and Bolton, who were both prepared to match the asking price - and better the wages - Everton are offering.
Veteran Chris Lucketti is signing a two-year deal at Bramall Lane - after Robson talked him into staying. Lucketti had been cleared to speak to Hull City.

Do we really need phillips? Graveson would be a good signing although the wages still bother me.

But with Nade, Shelton, Stead, Hulse, Webber and Possibly Sharp do we really need Phillips?

We dont really need Phillips unless someone is going out the door.

totally agree bladesman.. id like to see phillips though cos hes a good player..

hopefully we'll get gravesen for the middle of midfield

I don't really see why we would need both Sharp and Phillips unless one or more of our current strikers are on their way.

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson has admitted he is in talks for Celtic star Thomas Gravesen but is not sure a deal will happen.
The new Blades boss is looking to engineer a swift return to the Premiership after an arbitration panel upheld the Premier League's decision not to dock West Ham points over the signings of Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

And Robson hopes Danish veteran Gravesen, 31, can be tempted to Bramall Lane in order to strengthen his midfield for the Championship promotion push.
"We are in discussions with Celtic and, hopefully, we can sort out some kind of agreement with them," said Robson.
"I'm not sure if I can persuade Thomas to come here but I'd like to have the chance to speak to him."

United boss Bryan Robson has confirmed his interest in signing Denmark international Gravesen, whose performances after arriving from Real Madrid last August failed to match Celtic's expectations.

The 31-year-old former Everton player would have to weigh up the merits of a transfer, likely to be a loan, to the Coca-Cola Championship club who yesterday lost their legal challenge against the Premier League after an arbitration panel dismissed their claim over the Carlos Tevez affair.

But if Gravesen is willing, Celtic may be ready to let one of their big earners leave.

Robson said: "I have an interest in Thomas Gravesen and would like to bring him to Sheffield United.

Gravesen not keen on Blades

Full story: HERE

Thomas Gravesen is aiming to stay at Celtic, rather than consider a move to Sheffield United.

New Blades boss Bryan Robson has expressed an interest in adding the Danish midfielder to his squad.

But Gravesen's agent John Sivebaek admits the former Everton player's intention is to stick with the Scottish champions.

"It is hard to imagine Thomas in Sheffield," Sivebaek told Politiken. "At this moment he has decided he will stay at Celtic...

someone who's usually spot on with inside info recons that...

Hulse is off to Middlesborough, with Kevin Philips coming in to replace him.

He's been spot on every time so far, but i'm a bit unsuure on this one!

Cant see it, if it was to happen I would be furious.

I bloody hope not.

if hulse goes i will cry. hes the key for us getting out of the champ.

I read the same thing in the NOTW today - I know its a rag but looking past the sensationalist headlines at the front, the stuff at the back can be pretty accurate.

Robbo booted Hulsey out of West Brom to L***s didn't he, I've heard that they really don't get on that well so Billy Sharp would make a great foil for Robbo to cash in on Hulsey although I'd be sad to see him go.

Could he and Billy play up front together? Would they compliment or conflict? Maybe we'll never know....

i dont care if they dont get on, hulse has to stay

I agree with you, Hulse has to be the main striker in my opinion.

As for that Webber to Hull load of tosh I'd love him to stay too, when he had his chances last season he seemed to try just that little bit too hard to make a point to NW at the expense of a performance we all know he's capable of.

I don't want to see anyone leave the club as I believe we have the squad (OK minus Jags, the obvious BIG loss so far) to challenge for the Championship this coming season. A good MF (alongside Monty) and CB (cover for Morgs, Killa and Lucky) signing would about do it, attack I have no concerns about at all.

Up the Blades

our strike force at the moment is one of the best, if not the best in the division.

we have lots of firepower!

i wont be happy if anyone else leaves after robbo has said no body is for sale especially if hulsey goes.

Reported on quite a few sites this morning that Strachan and Graveson have come to blows on their pre-season tour. If he turned us down because he wants to fight for his place at Celtic, maybe we could see a turnaround?

Mentioned in todays gossip column too on the BBC.

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson is ready to offer Celtic £3m for midfielder Thomas Gravesen. (Daily Mirror)

Sounds promising.

I reckon that would be £3m well spent. He could really run our midfield, and I think we need a player like that in the middle.

yes ive seen that too in the mirror and if he does decide to come i think he would be a real threat to other opponents.

well didn't all the players at the end of season vow to stay apart from jags who said he wanted premiership football? (ive got no arguments with that) but then kaz went n now claudey's gone soo...who knows

i heard the other day that newcastle have put a bid in for kenny but can't remember were i heard it, probably bullshit like

yeah i'd be dissappointed to see hulsey go because he did a lot for us last season and scored some important goals, i'd also be dissappointed if stead went because ok, some people do knock him but i think he really played well for us last season and i think he'll do very well next season

would anyone be happy with 4-3-3 formation cos i really can't see who robbo's going to choose as his main 2 strikers

Cant see Newcastle signing Kenny unless Given goes to be honest.

I wouldn't want 433, unless we were playing a shite attacking team. We would get caught out too much - stick to 442.
