My guess is they saw Blades fans getting in a frenzy, reduced the odds to fuel it further, then now it's been quashed they don't want to get in bother for manipulating bets over nothing.

Why would he dodge the question if not? It would have been very easy to say something like yes chris rang me and united are close to my heart but I'm concentrating on getting my place back at Everton.

Also, if he's stay at Everton I don't think they'd be happy about him not pledging his commitment
