I don’t think I said that, did I?

Given where we’re currently at, and given what he’s demonstrated so far in his career do you really think he’s worth using our limited budget?

I’ll also add, ā€œrumouredā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Cameron Archer has only played in the Championship on that logic yet they have supposedly quoted us 20 million.
I'd imagine if Hull are after the lad, fees and wages won't be a problem especially if it's 3/4 million AND he would be classed as U21 as 21st his birthday was in Feb so wouldn't need to be in the 25

Player suggestions are good time passers but if the club haven’t been tracking them and doing their scouting due diligence i would imagine they’re not suddenly going to see Hull after him and dive in quick. We would only do that if he’s on the now infamous list of players that’s now looking embarrassingly threadbare.

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make, I don’t think Archer is worth Ā£20m.

Not bothered about a trophy, I’d rather you just answer my question. I’m not sure why you’re getting weird about it, it was an honest question.
Yes, I think he's worth it. Offers something we don't have and, if he was to jump a level good resale potential. If he doesn't then at least it's another piece to have around next season

His ability to carry the ball up the pitch in central areas caused us some real issues against Cardiff last year. That’s a useful and valuable skill to have and is a skill set that our current crop of midfielders don’t have.

Fair enough. I disagree. Given our limited budget, I don’t think someone who is currently middling Championship is worth spending potentially Ā£5m on. It will be interesting to see whether anyone other than Hull come in for him.

Jaden Philogene stands out as a skillful, yet direct winger with a real talent to take on his man

His acceleration has proven to be deadly, especially when in a foot race with the defence

Quoted from someone who has done analysis for the Hull move, although it says winger he has played CAM, seems similar to what we lack in that area

I thought he looked good at the Lane earlier in the year and I think commented on it during the match on here. Although I thought Kaba looked just as good and I'm disappointed we didn't go for him.

BUT, if funds are tight, we're getting good hints form City that McAtee may be available after all, it makes much more sense to save our limited budget for a striker.

And the main point being that if we've not been linked by now, I just don't think we're interested and he doesn't fit the profile of what Hecky is looking for.

He looked good against us and seems the type of player who would fit with our system and Hecky likes. But like all these Prem youth players, it's still a lot of money based on a fairly limited number of appearances, so always feels a real gamble.

The most annoying thing about this deal is that Hull bought him for £4.5m and sold him back for £18m. We bought Archer for £18 and sold him back for £15m or £16m.

Archer had done a bit more when we bought him, but agree with your point. It was a poor deal on our part.

Heard something a bit different on this.

Apparently he had a buy back clause IF another team were to get him from Hull. Ipswich went in for 18m, activated the clause which meant Villa could buy him back for 30% less of whatever the offer from the other enquiring team was (sell on clause essentially). Hull will get 13.5m. I'd imagine Villa will now sell him to Ipswich for 18-20m.

Oh I see fair enough. All sounds pretty dodgy doesn't it.

I have no idea if that scenario is true re: the buyback clause, but if it is, it's just another sly way for Prem teams to squirm their way past FFP regs. I hate that league with a passion. Everyone is just out to shortcut their way to success

Sad but true! Just found it on BBC Sport

Sounds like he's been made available for loan by Villa, not too surprising with their frightening level of attacking depth. If he was interested, I think this would be a real statement signing given he can play on either flank (but mainly used on the left wing). Would much prefer him to Louie Barry, given that he has real Championship experience with both Cardiff and Hull.

Must be a top target if available

Same main position as Brereton, but both could be accommodated. I'd put him on the right
