Signed a contract at Chelsea until 2013 and joined Barnsley on loan.

I'm pleased for the kid. He'll be playing under a decent manager as well.

Good deal we got, paid for the toilet and bar area of the hotel.

If that's correct, we did well. Beautiful toilets in the Copthorne, both of my lads said "this is posh" as they walked into them. Not quite as good as the ones at Baldwins Omega but must be in the Sheffield Top Ten of bogs.

I seem to remember watching Mellis playing for Chelsea in the Youth Cup against Citeh final a couple of years ago. If memory servec he committed a pretty dangerous challenge near the end of the game.....I wasn't very impressed!

I'm assuming i'm correct in detecting slight sarcasm?

If so, it was a good deal, considering the lad had absolutely no intention of sticking around once they came sniffing.

He was on the bench for Chelsea the other week, presume its not with a view to a permanent move, perhaps just a move to get him more experience

Major boost for the dingles though, sounds like a horrible little lad will fit in well at the horrible little club

Hang on, I'm getting lost here. Isn't Donny the horrible little club now?

Not to me, Donny are still a pleasant little club with a pleasant manager and decent chairman.

Dingles are just horrible.

Cheers Suisse.

Elsewhere, Fabio signals Kyle's in his thoughts for the next squad.
I trust that was one of the extras included in our clever decision to sell him when we did.

Is Kyle actually on loan at Villa as he played against us but I have not seen him play again for them? He doesn't even make the subs bench. Maybe not all are blinkered by the fact that he scored a goal

He picked up an injury but is meant to be the Villa squad for their cup match this weekend.

Got a slight back injury. Played 90 in the Birmingham derby after the game at BDTBL so all in all a pretty embarrassing post in my very humble opinion Copenhagen. Fair enough ask if he has played but to suggest he has scored a goal and done nowt else to impress is simply beyond a joke.

Just stirring Mic but a lot of people do get blinded by the fact that a player has scored a goal. I can't really say that I noticed him much apart from the suicidal crossfield pass he made that would have been punished at a higher level. He is not ready for England though, I would rather see Jags play at right back if he is not going to break up the Terry/Rio partnership

Jags can go in goal if need be he is 2nd best to Joe Hart. :)

Fair enough - I should be able to recognise a stir!

Not ready I agree but I thought v impressive at BDTBL (set their third up with a great run) and very comfortable against Birmingham.

Personally, I reckon better RB now than Jags would be but that's my preference. A fit Jags and Walker at RB and I might watch an England game with a bit of interest. £7m for the 2 of em.

We couldn't do anything about Jags leaving, apart from staying up as he had a get out clause in his contract. The KW deal I think has been done to death now :-)
Having watched Green throw another goal in against B'ham the other night I think Jags is 2nd best Bladesman :-)

Terry and Rio, possibly one of the worst centre half pairings there has been for years. Breaking up that partnership is long overdue

Terry is the weak link and has been for years. However, I'd put the Jagielka-Kilgallon partnership which played at Leicester in our promotion season below them.

The get out clause didn't appear as if by magic but the greater cock-up was setting a £4m figure which meant that was all we'd get.
Around the same time, Curtis Davies fetched £10m if I recall correctly.
It was another one of the pie man's great efforts.

Not wishing to be pedantic but that Walker Stadium nightmare was brought to you by a Jagielka/Bromby combo, more than ably assisted by Alan Wright being overwhelmed in the air by someone 3 foot taller than him out wide.

At Leicester in 05-06 we got stuffed 4-2. Kilgallon wasn't even playing for us then.

Better players than Jags have walked for free. You talk about it as though we just had to name our fee. When he signed the contract it was clear that the boot was on his foot. If we'd been unrealistic about the get out fee, no doubt dicatated by Jags, then we risked losing him for free.

Though blaming Robinson for everything from world hunger upwards in the done thing, it really is far more complicated that you ever assert.

Give over, our relationship with Jags was a harmonious one and we could have simply had a gentleman's agreement on it or a clause which said he can go if we go down.
He was under contract so he couldn't have 'walked for free'.
It was another failure of management. If you sell a player for less than he's worth - much less than he's worth in this case - something has gone wrong.
The pie man's performance was such that he was sacked from the club not so long ago. Probably because he failed to solve world hunger.

ROFL - "harmonious" - aye, players are never greedy. He loved us sooooo much!

He signed a new contract with the £4M get out clause that he insisted on. He didn't have to sign one and if he didn't he would have walked for free at the end of his previous, shorter contract. He knew very well that any increase on the £4M was a decrease in his salary at the new club. You know this but choose to ignore it. So let's not let the facts get in the way of an opportunity to bash the club, eh Len?

They've given you loads of ammo to use. I don't share your need to dream new stuff up.

Nah, you've got this one wrong. The player negotiating in this position will attempt go keep the sell on price low because they need someone to be willing to trigger it. 4m was a very good price at the time Jags turned down Wigan and agreed to stay. The deal United did in effect got us promoted the next year. Kudos to to United for cutting it and kudos to Jags for his willingness to stay. A great deal all round.

Let's not forget that if more than one club had wanted to bid for him then his price would have been forced higher. But no other bids came. Without the clause we'd probably have got a very similar fee.
