CONFIRMED Jack Robinson incoming

Would a 3rd choice defender not be weakening the squad tho if Osborn is on his bike?

I don’t know if Robinson turns out to be a shrewd signing or not, but the Forest Manager doesn’t seem to rate him. Osborn doesn’t look a bad cover signing though from what I’ve seen of him
 
If we sign him then CWAK clearly think that he can do us a job for 6 months. This seasons Gary Madine. Probably a good chance that come the summer he will be cast off and we will look at other more permanent options.

Im om with this signing as I'm OK with the Jack Rodwell signing. If they come off great, if they don't, we haven't really lost anything.

Summer will give us a lot clearer picture re what we have to spend, and what new contracts we have given out to our existing players.

No need to panic buy this window, our current lads arent doing to shabbily are they?

I'm also OK with thr club using its own TV money in thr summer to buy back its own property assets. Its right that the ground and football assets should be owned by thr club and not a club directors company. In a sense we are just paying off 20 years plus of previous season losses that McCabe paid for up front and which meant that he converted the loans he gave the club into share equity and ultimately the transfer of the clubs assets into thr Scarborough group. Its not ideal, but why should the club expect another individual to buy these assets back for the club and which will be the clubs assets after the purchase is complete?

Bearing in mind the club has to 1) buy back the football club assets, 2) bring the wage bill up to a higher level which is more in line with other PL clubs (and therefore make it easier for us to bring in future PL players), and 3) buy and build a new training ground, we have a lot to pay out for in the next couple of years, and I can't see us spunkin a lot of money away on transfer fees for a while yet.

Staying up this season though definately helps the clubs long term financial position enormously though.

Can see what you mean Roy but I dont think forest will let him go for free ,they are pushing for promotion themselves.A contract will be on offer Robinson would be a fool to go without some security of a contract.
We will see soon enough,only 26 so he is young enough to become another of Wilders aces ,Wilder loves to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I know we all trust CW, but I can only assume that his Jan budget is next to fk all

Rodwell and a third choice LB not quite the inspiration I was hoping for. Perhaps there still a rabbit to be pulled from the hat yet

Can't think of any other than mcgoldrick that have turned out to be any good

But we should be shopping in a different market now

If we don't want to spend big buy lower leagues up and comming players that will offer more chance of either comming good or we can sell on for same or better than we have bought them for

Robinson isn't even in the Forest squad though. Maybe they are just happy to get rid of his wages and prepared to cut their losses with him being out of contract at the end of the season. Possible frees up another signing for them too.

So is your definition someone taken on a free? Or simply a player that wasn't wanted at his old club?

Our squad is full of players who fit both categories. A couple more cast offs from the top of my head; Jake Wright and Mark Duffy.

Not saying Robinson will turn out for the best, but your snipe that 'taking cast offs has been unsuccessful' is quite frankly bullshit. We've had massively mixed results, but I'm more than prepared to trust Wilder on this.
 
He’s an improvement on Bryan for sure? Robinson will only be coming in as cover for O’Connell. I’m sure Wilder will bring someone in better if O’Connell left. And for me Osborn isn’t good enough, too lightweight!!!

By cast offs I mean players who are deemed not wanted by there parent club ie mcgoldrick or they don't have a club ie rodwell or Morrison

If rodwell was any good why didn't Blackburn offer him a contract??

Yes, Wright and Duffy were released.

Rodwell was offered a contract by Blackburn.

The point I'm trying to make is we are now premier league and should be looking to bring in players that are capable of challenging the starting 11 at the very least but more importantly bring in players than our present starting 11

I'm confused, I thought the point you were trying to make was that we shouldn't be taking cast offs of which Rodwell was an example?
