we need to have a thorough look at our youth set-up and what is going drastically wrong at the moment. There's no pipeline.
One of the other posters pointed out we are not at the point of buying up all the best kids yet and throwing millions at it, that's the difference between our academy and the top ones.

Still not fit then and not even enough to make it on the bench.

There’s some right bull shit going on with JOC at the moment, let’s just say shall we that he won’t be able to play for the rest of the season , I just hope that we haven’t seen him for the last time in a blades shirt !

I guess Chris is trying to keep his cards close to his chest about possible formations / squads after recent leaks.

It is all very strange

Agreed, but I'm talking more about the gap between Academy and first team. What we used to refer to as the development squad. Our U-23s is normally full of U-18s.
It’s not been part of our strategy for the past few years, hence why we’ve been happy with a lower category academy which we’ve cut our investment in. Nothing has happened, the academy has functioned as expected given the importance we put on it.
If we’re now looking to produce our own, then that would be a change and we’d have to invest a lot heavier in it, and even then it would be at least 5 seasons before it really looks to deliver consistently.
It’s a big investment for longer term reward and I’m not sure we’re looking to replenish our squad with Inexperienced youth, when we can currently buy it. Another season in the PL and maybe we can start planning to consistently home grow our talent and have a reliable pipeline from 2030 but I’m not convinced that’s Wilder’s or the clubs plan.
I think we’ll stay as we are, look to poach talent late when the big academies have let them go and see what happens. Minimal investment and minimal risk or losses.

Smells a bit like the Brooks affair.

CW on JOC: "Everyday is better for Jack but we won't make a high risk decision on him. We want to give him the best chance to fully recover"

I don't understand why he doesn't just tell us what the length of the time of the sidelines exactly is?
He was clearly not 'possibly' ever going to be fit for Newcastle if he's still not fit now...

It's not fooling the opposition any more is it? 😂

Perhaps Wilder genuinely doesn't know. It is not a precise science.

Info likely comes from Radio Sheffield interviews or summat.

Did anyone else think that it was a foul on Lunny as I did at the time (and still do)?
Yet the Ref called it the other way....AGAIN!

Like he did in last minute with Fleck. That was a shocker and denied us a chance to launch the ball into the box.

Probably worst ref I have seen since Trevor Kettle.

What does it matter? The season is more or less over so no rush for me. Best to make sure he's fully fit for the new season in September when we can start afresh.

Fixed that for you 🙂

That's my concern, if it was just a case of keeping him fit ready for a new season, that would be great. Being a paranoid Blade of long-standing it has a hint of spin, prior to him leaving the club. I'm sure it's what football clubs do and Wilder will be no different to the rest, but it was pretty apparent David Brooks was on his way long before he actually left, but we were spun a tail about one thing or another. If Jack O'C goes, he goes, but it's the taking the fans for mugs which grates. Although, hopefully, I'm just a suspicious paranoid old git who needs to wind his neck in.

Are we any closer to a vaccine?

No, but we have got an increasing list of symptoms:

  • Playing like a tit for half a season after being denied a move
  • Giving up against Watford to force a move
  • Increased susceptibility to sunstroke
  • Pretending to buy Leroy Lita (secondary infectees only)
  • 'Contact damage' to the knee
  • Putting you house on Right Move

In this picture from SUFC twitter today - backs to the camera the right one looks like Hendo and the left one looks like JoC. In training.
