I may be wrong but got the impression from that interview that Jebbison is being lined up to go out on loan. When asked about his development, Lester said something along the lines of we have a plan mapped out for him, although all down to interpretation.

Some notes, but I'm sure you've all seen it anyway...

Re Blackpool game, really pleased with the ‘personality of the team’, especially once it went to 2-1 and we had to ‘see the game through’ and take 3 points.

They then discussed the Blackpool game and the attitude a bit too much. We heard it all from Hecky in the post-game presser. Maybe the interviewer wanted to give Jack an easier time for his first one (at least in a while). All good.

About the away form – 5 wins in a row – ‘we are wonderfully backed away from home. They’re a noisy lot and it comes onto the pitch. We had the entire side of the ground against Blackpool. It goes a long way’

About the games coming thick and fast. ‘It’s a big boost for us with the players coming back into the squad’. ‘The intensity we play at is very high, so with the run of games when Bogle was out injured, we couldn’t give George a rest. So, to be able to take him out of the firing line is really useful for us. It’s a squad game and everyone plays their part’

He commented on the preparation the inured guys go through in order to be back available and he felt ‘those two coming back into the squad recently’ (I think he meant Bogle and Lowe) met the intensity on the pitch straight away and it’s testament to that rehab and preparation.

Talking about the development and improvement in McAtee. ‘He has a great work ethic, and everyone can see how much he has improved and he has been a match winner for us’. ‘He has to be brave in the big moments and he is producing’.

Talking about Jebbo, ‘It’s been a bit stop start with his injuries, but he is developing really well. He will still be a teenager at the start of next season. People forget how young he is. He is ahead of schedule compared to where we saw him as a 15/16 year old.’ ‘We are really pleased with him’. ‘We will be putting things in place to help him keep improving’. (that's the line bertieblade mentioned) ‘He is lapping up the winning mentality that’s around him.’ He is learning from how the other guys prepare and go about their business.

Talking further about the culture, ‘It’s not just about the coaches. Having good seniors in the squad is imperative for success and we’ve got that. What that does is it brings the group up and the younger ones really learn from that.’

We’re now at 9m20 in a 10m25 video before they even mention the game with QPR…as Charlieblade noted earlier

Egan back from the ban. McBurnie getting closer. No other problems from Blackpool

What can we expect from QPR? ‘tough game’, they’ve got back-to-back home games, it’ll be a good game and we will be ready for it, etc etc etc…all the usual.

He touched on the game down there last season and how important it was, and how we showed that personality he mentioned earlier.

I haven’t been to Loftus Rd for a long time. Can’t wait to set off. Away Days!!!!

Happy New Year to you all. UTB!

Notes from Ollie...

‘Form is good, results have been good. Only lost one in nine, won the other eight’

Not too much focus on QPR, but I do recommend you give him a listen. It’s only 5 mins and I always think it’s good to listen to our captains, to gauge the mentality. He’s a no bullshit kinda guy. Glad he’s on our team as a leader. Talks about focussing on getting better, mentioning Hecky challenging him in the summer to be better defensively, which is why we’ve seen him getting some belting challenges in this year.

I really hope he helps us get back to the Premier League and he gets another go at it.

I don’t like to speculate too much, but I did find one part really interesting and wondered if the words and body language (slightly red in the face) meant he is struggling to get the contract extension/deal he is looking for:

Interviewer: ‘Playing the best football of your career at 31 years of age, you seem to be getting better and better at the moment.
Ollie: ‘You need to tell the club that’

He expects a reaction from QPR after they lost at home in their last game, but we will focus on us.

Hecky seems a little tired of pre & post match interviews recently so good to give Macca and Jack the opportunity to speak.

Jack speaks really well and you can see why we're doing so well with the backroom staff at the club

I believe a significant factor why we're seeing decent success is because our backroom all have close links to Sheff Utd, they know the club, the fans and it's culture.

Hecky is from Barnsley, presumably supported Barnsley as a boy
but he was brought to the club by his friend Chris Wilder and has been coaching at Bramall Lane since July 2020.

McCall is from Leeds and supported Leeds Utd as a boy, however he played for United as captain of the team under Warnock.
He played for us when we had that fantastic season reaching both the FA cup semi final and league cup semi final, also finishing 3rd and reaching the play-off final.

Lester is from Sheffield and supported Sheff Utd as a boy.
Spent most of his career at Nottingham Forest and Chesterfield but did play 2 season for us.

For Jukanovic and his Spanish backroom staff it was just a job....where as the current backroom staff will care more and have more feeling towards the club.
