The original song is a Glasgow Rangers sectarian song.

The last line in the Blades version is,

‘Every year is 1889’ not fuckin AND the year is 1889.

As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, a utopian image of the future.
 
He was a guy that I would have had a pint with despite his Leeds / Pigs associations. Down to earth, funny (he gave prizes out at our school and was quite witty) had a great football brain which he showed at the Republic. Sad to hear he has gone. RIP Giraffe.
