He's out of work, manages on a shoestring, knows the club, got us up and kept us up.
You know it makes sense Mr McCabe.

Give over, you know it makes sense. Warnock could be his number 2, which would be apt.

diference Bassett has been out of the game for too long now where as Warnock is still proving he can do it at Palace on a shoestring budget he can't buy players and has been forced to play youngsters and look at them playing and getting results.

that made me genuinely laugh

NW & KB are the bastard sons of DB, len. can't believe you posted that!

Having read a post about Vinnie Jones elsewhere, I think he could also do a job on the motivation side.
We could have DB, NW and VJ for a charge of the light brigade up the Championship.

(And Beighton started all this, so don't blame me...)

I think his tongue will have to be surgically removed from his cheek, mate!

yep .................. he'd make a good assistant for my choice Mr Warnock.

What a team !

Bloody hell... imagine the whinging about the style of play with that management tour de force :D

Ridiculous. After Bassetts comments a season or so ago I wouldn't want to see him back at the lane at all.

Besides, we have a manager.

Its time for Bryan Robson.

Its time for Adrian Heath

Its time for any manager that's managed us in the last 50 years.

Like SotonBlade just said never go back.

Why automatically rule out anyone who has managed us in the past?

I am a strong supporter of Blackwell, and he isn't going to be replaced any time soon. But if we were managerless, I would hope that we would be looking at all potential candidates regardless of whether they had been at the club before. IMO Stewart McCall, Steve Bruce or even Neil Warnock should not be ruled out as a potential future manager just because they have been at the club previously.

Comments like "never look back, always look forward" are meaningless. If you followed such a rule, players like Jags and Naughton would not be allowed to play for the club again.

Off to see DB what he does best these days - tell stories - on Friday night at a Dinner. At least it will bring back memories of success and, although it was direct football, effective, direct football and exciting games. Pace and skill up front, with the use of two proper wingers who played as wingers and provided good service.

Blackwell take note.

i think mr. Bassett getting on a bit to be honest. But i'll have in back anyday:)
wat a manager does anyone remeber lesiecter away when 10000 blades fans went and we won to go upppppppp:) deano!

Sorry, but Brian Deane has retired now. The day he left for Leeds was the day the game was up for Dave Bassett.

Bring back Dave Bassett
Lord of the Longball
