I can see Swindon faltering on the run in but the biggest threat to us is Preston since Garner has come back from injury earlier than anticipated. They are strong enough to brush aside the lower positioned teams and may have just enough of a head start on us to make it nigh on impossible to reel them in.

Expect us to go on a superb run and finish third behind Brizzle and Preston.

But it's going to be exciting now we can score goals :)

on the plus side those we are chasing have several head to heads left , we have completed our games against them all so have noone to play aboove us
All our games left are against teams below us

Like most, before yesterday I considered autos most unlikely - both factually and mathematically. However after yesterday, there's something afoot in the wind. Watching 'Clem's Gillingham Highlights' last night, it's obvious that there's hardly anything between the teams we have in our league. Colchester (extremely unlucky not to go away with anything last Tuesday) beat 'promotion hopefuls' Oldham at Bondary Park. Scunthorpe beat Swindon. United beat Bristol. MK Dons lost. Preston are distracted with the FA Cup.

Signs are that, at last NC has found the right combination. While most of us were longing for the archetypal 'battering ram' CF, could we have unearthed an absolute gem in Done? His lay off to JB for the first and then making sure he got in the right place to score from the resultant cross were great. Our second, a great and visionary slide-rule pass from Davies to JM who squared it across the danger area. How many times have we seen this go unrewarded this season? Not this time. Doney was on hand to finish it off. And JM's goal, great run forward (again), 'opened his body up' to make the goalie think he would bend it in at the far post.

So can we do it? Yes. Will we do it? Fuck knows but we're hitting our stride at exactly (well, one week earlier) the right time as last season. We'll know much more by next Sunday.

Harris not Davies ;) but I get all your points :)

So do I, except Colchester being 'unlucky'. They had no bad luck at all. People say the strangest things.

Reminds me of the evening Scunthorpe fluked a 4-0 win at our place a few years back. Sorry you don't score 4 lucky goals.

No you don't. Similarly it is not bad luck to shoot wide, hit the bar, see an opposition keeper make a string of great saves (Turner for example) or be caught marginally offside. It's not lucky when the opposing striker misses an open goal from ten yards any more than it is unlucky when ours does!

I'm prepared to concede 'luck' for example when an obvious penalty is not given, when an offside 'goal' is allowed, when a goal is scored through a wild and improbable deflection or maybe when a player scores from a attempted cross.

The vast majority of football events cited on here as lucky/unlucky week-in, week-out, have nothing whatsoever to do with luck.

Nothing less than six points this next week will do.
But these are two teams that we always seem to struggle to breakdown and our results against them lately have been a mixed bag.

Next six games are key, could go into the last 12 games being able to lose 25% of them, who saw that at Xmas?

You been using Presty's camera?

Two games that stick in my mind ate the West Ham 28 corners game they won luckily 2-0 and Huddersfield away, think we were 3-0 down and all the Blades were laughing at them because they were crap and hitting missed passes all over the pitch.

It's not ate but windows phone keeps correcting are to ate?

I should have learned the "never be positive" rule from 30 odd years of supporting The Blades!
