This part of your post is right Tyke. Its a long time ago now and as there were never any criminal, or civil charges brought (despite all the hoo-haa at the time, especially from Simon Davey which was pretty disgraceful btw.), it is pretty obvious that the whole incident was not as clear cut as you appear to think. Hume was rushing in from the side of Morgs, (after giving out plenty that day himself) and Morgs raised his arm and moved it towards Hume. He didn't swing the elbow like quite a few we've all seen over the years, (ermm, like Hume did when he got himself sent off for Leicester, for example...). It was an unfortunate outcome to something that happens ten times a game. Your own medical team thought so little of it that they allowed him to play on, and then sent him home at the end of the game, if you recall.

I agree that many modern players do take the piss with injuries, but it is a different world, played at very high speed compared to the game we used to know. A kick on the shin hurts, but if you are running at full pelt it hurts a lot more. No point in comparing it to rugby or anything else for that matter.

Never mind all that. I dont suppose we'll ever agree on the incident, but thats not really the point. Why are you bothering to come on a rivals forum at 7am on a Saturday to rake over the coals of this again? I really dont get. We support SUFC and so its not too abnormal to be on here at strange hours, but you..? Maybe you should let it rest now...

The reason no criminal or civil charges were brought is that it was more likely that Barnsley FC would get done for lack of medical care after the incident and that would be far easier to prove than if Morgan had intent or didn't. The way hume came in put the doubt about that, you even see him look at Morgs before the incident.
