It would be a disgrace... if Billy Sharp didn't win player of the Year.
It has got to be Sharp for player of the season. It would be an insult to him, if he didn't win it. We've played great all season but goals win games and he's got 26 of them and he's our Captain. After all the times Pigs have prevented him winning Player of the month if we pick someone else ahead of him it's a disgrace.

Yes Fleck's been great- he has, the best midfielder in the Division;
Yes Freeman's got 7 goals from Full back and...
yes Jake Wright still hasn't lost a game...
but we need to back our Skipper, Blade & (hopefully) 30 goal man as POTY, not try and be clever and pick someone else.

We got Billy Sharp, let's not spit in his eye, after this year, he is our Player of the Year, don't let's be daft Blades.

Isn't it a pleasant change to actually have a number of players who could, for various reasons, seriously be considered for the player of the year award? Yes, Billy Sharp stands out but the likes of Fleck, Freeman, Wright, Coutts, even Basham with his last few displays and versatility, could get votes.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it would be a disgrace as we've had some other great contributors too as you point out but I'm inclined to agree that on balance, Billy deserves it. 26 goals from 36 games is an incredible achievement.

How many kids have O'Connell, Wright or Coutts on their shirts? How many have Sharp? No kid wants to be a Kieron Freeman or Danny Lafferty, they want to be a Billy Sharp, a Rinaldo or a Messi.

Surely the fact Freeman had carried out his Def/Mid duties well all season and chipped in with 8 goals (a third of Sharps), that means he's had a better season?!

Plenty of times we've had to score several goals to win games because we've conceded.

Fleck is amazing BUT should he have scored more goals? having said that he's probably too busy setting them up if you look at the stats.

Points, goals, clean sheets are the business side of football - it's what the professionals involved get paid for. Awards are the entertainment, glamour, fun side of the business. They are good to have, but they are glitz and glam, not the real thing. Hope Billy gets the award, but HE knows and WE know what he has achieved.
