Is that twelve play-off defeats for us and Brentford combined?

Gutted that for next year those weekend away trips to the South West are lost. Wanted Brentford to win today.

yeovil have one thing we dont have. well two. no three. actually four. at least.
a striker. a manager. they can pass the ball. and have a bit of pace.

It is a red and white stripe thing. I understand Sunderland and stoke are crap in play-offs as well. I read somewhere the only time any club wearing red and white stripes has won was Stoke and who were they playing in the final......brentford! So not even TFG's could find a way out of that one.

I think League one will be that bit harder next season;

Wolves will surely take one of the top two places, leaving;

Peterborough
Brentford
maybe Coventry

Fighting over the other, with us in the mix with these likely candidates;

Bristol
Swindon
Crewe
Tranmere
MKD
Bradford?

We could easily end up 7th to 11th. Don't know much about the new teams from League two?

:eek:

Didn't Donny go up in the play offs the other year?

were a long way off being a promotion contender. we have no manager and no team. and presumably no money. if we can get rid of the deadwood, sign some good players and get anywhere in the top half playing decent football that will be a pretty good achievement.

We might have no positive attributes whatsoever, but at least out cloth has been cut. That's the main thing apparently.

I think Lincoln City hold the record of 5 successive play-off defeats and they play ni red and white striped so there may be something in it

what do the 3 teams that got promoted have in common?

bournemouth
doncaster
yeovil

yep, they all have an "O" in their name. and we dont. coincidence? :cool:

Not too sure about Wolves, HH. They're in turmoil finance-wise, the players they can't shift will have recently played in the PL so a culture shock is an understatement.

Utterly pointless predicting owt. Who would have thought Yeovil would go up at the start of the season?

The only certainty is your first point - 'I think League one will be that bit harder next season.' I think Blunkett could have seen that last season was a one-off in terms of lack of quality and not one stand-out team. An opportunity that may haunt us for years.

It gets weirder with Brentford.
They were also formed in 1889 and have cutlasses on their emblem . "cue the twilight zone theme " ........

Have Brentford equaled us for final defeats now too? I know someone could have got four before us, but they didn't and we did.

So away kit next time out then? Maybe something bright that will blind the opposition.

I was rooting for Yeovil yesterday for two reasons; firstly, Yeovil's ground is a further distance from Yeovil Junction Station than Brentford's ground is from my front door, and secondly, living amongst the Brentford faithful I've found them a bit cocksure recently.

In fact, any goodwill to my Brentford mates evaporated thanks to one Nobentity of a colleague of mine who, if his own opinion of his ability is anything to go by, should be running the organisation by now, rather than just driving fookin' vans. "Have you got your ticket yet?" he asked, with serious face.

"What for, Rush at the o2?" replied I.

"No, the Play Off Final at Wembley... Oh no, you're not going are you. Ha ha."

Oh how I laughed as I said, "Come on fuckin' Yeovil," remembering that he once complained because one of the night managers called him a "poxy c**t"; never have I agreed with a night manager so much.

I hope he suffered yesterday.

And it has to be said, the attitude of many I saw on the train yesterday was that they assumed they were gong to win.

With apologies to Dan, Dave, Graham and Jimmy. And Rick Wakeman.
