Brooks made little contribution to the excellent couple of seasons we’ve just had. He became David Mustavastart on here and frankly didn’t deliver when he did. Nobody but Bournemouth wanted to pay a substantial sum for the lad. Time will tell, but provided CW is given the majority of the dosh, we’ll be a better team next season than last, and that’s really what matters.

I guess it was a reaction to the cumulative effects of the posts on this thread. Somehow it’s being suggested that I’m spitting my dummy because a player has left.

I’d love for my son to become a Blade, but it’s not being made easy by the club. When I told him, his reaction was “meh” - when I asked him if he wanted a shirt, he said “I’ve got one” (last year’s). It’s not easy to maintain an interest here, especially when there is NO other kid in his school who has heard of us. Now the club has made a mess of the summer (so far), that’s just got even harder.

Same here. I mentioned in passing that Brooks was leaving to my 12 year old and he was really upset; surprised me to be honest. I guess I had forgotten how upset I was when TC left all those years ago.

Must say he was obviously not really that bothered anyway then. By age 6 I was hooked and it wouldn't have mattered who left I'd have still been there week in week out. Its not a dig at your lad at all but maybe he was just never going to be a huge football nut

I do feel sorry for the kiddiewinks to be honest. Brooks was a favourite, being the closest in age and body type to them.

It won't be the last time United sell a beloved player though, it's like a pet dying, it's sad but it's the way of life, eventually they'll be bugging you for another kitten.

I was as disappointed as most, I would have loved to see a fully fit Brooks have a decent run and I thought we would keep him until JTW.

Agreed, there is no comparison. Brooks is still just a promising young player with a lot to prove; TC on the other hand is the best United player I've ever seen. I was just surprised that my lad was so upset.
Anyway, we will still be making the trip back to BDTBL no matter what.

When I was nine, we sold Glenn Cockerill. I cried and wouldn't go with my dad to the next home game. I came back eventually though and, about four years later, we beat Leicester 5-2 in May. I didn't think about Glenn Cockerill that day.
