Don't forget the custardChrist even City Sauna is being affected by inflation.
Sin bins are a decent deterrent, and this should be combined with a similar rule that rugby has - the free kick can be taken in line with the foul but anywhere the length of the pitch. The main issue is whether you can clearly define a cynical foul from a genuine attempt to win the ball, but considering how over complicated off sides and VAR are I'm sure they can come up with something.Orange card and sin bins would probably work, though can't see it happening unfortunately, too revolutionary.
Another option would be to broaden the definition of denying a goal scoring opportunity.
An obvious goalscoring opportunity doesn't need to be a perceived guaranteed goal.
Second half he ran on the ball and it was clear his marker couldn't keep up so he grabbed his shirt and pulled him down. Although meaninglessly booked, I'm sure that player was praised, as he "took one for the team". We do this ourselves of course, and I think Hecky criticised individuals when they failed to do this on at least one occasion last season.
But it is really time to punish these destructive and entertainment-killing fouls. A yellow card is not enough. I suggest an immediate one match suspension following this type of ugly and cynical foul. It may at least force players to think again.

On your last point, agree totally. I've been arguing for years with anyone who would listen for non ref timekeeping much like in rugby, ball not in active play then clock stops. I think this would help mitigate your other points about on field injuries and throw ins, just stop the clock...my other bugbear is getting the refs miked up, sooner refs have to explain decisions and players realised they can be heard live the better the game will become for me.Getting a bit off topic, but I'd love for a real deterrent against diving and time wasting introduced.
Firstly, any player needing treatment on the pitch should spend the same amount of time on the sidelines after treatment, or be immediately substituted.
The 6 second rule for goalkeepers should be properly enforced, and a similar rule be introduced for throw-ins, free kicks and corners.
Yellow cards for time wasting should be given out more often, if necessary. Currently players are given far too many chances, and players already on a caution seem to have an immunity to another yellow: a couple of second yellows for time wasting would send the message.
Finally, there should be a diving committee: a board that analyse instances of alleged diving. If a player wins a free kick or penalty and video evidence shows that there was no contact, or the player manipulated the referee; they get a ban. Maybe just a 1 game ban, with more severe punishments for repeat offenders.
Ultimately, I'd like to completely sack off the referees watches, and the arbitrary added time, and replace it with an American style stopwatch. When the ball is in play, the clock counts. When it's out, it freezes.
None of that will ever happen of course, part of the reason I'm completely fed up with the game.
...And another thing. Absolutely no bad mouthing or arguing with referees. It should be like ruby. The captain should be allowed to ask the referee why he gave a particular decision but the ref's decision is final and the players have to accept it. (subject to VAR of course) Any player arguing or giving back chat should receive a yellow card or be sin binned for 10 minutes. End of. Apart from the ethics of the game the sight of senior international players arguing with referees on TV sets a terrible example for young people starting to play football at school or local clubs.Getting a bit off topic, but I'd love for a real deterrent against diving and time wasting introduced.

Sounds like most of our current first team midfield performancesI only saw him against Scunthorpe but very much looked like a confidence player. Also looked like he could switch it on when he wanted to but wasn’t consistent over the 90.
Long way to go based on that performance … subs bench at best for last 20mins.
Not yet ready to be relied upon.

Ollie Burke plays for werder Bremen ffs, the standard at the bottom end of the bundesliga is about mid table champ. Why judge a young player on different standards than experienced players. From the admittedly few games I saw last season players like Fleck and Osborne were very inconsistent and offered little to the team. Coulibaly deserves a run of 5 games before you can really judge him. Also read Heckinbottom didn’t rate Radic. He’s going to a Bundesliga club, if you can play in Bundesliga you can definitely play in the EFL. Maybe something’s wrong with his judgement of players, especially foreign players.
It might be an issue of what we want out of him purple last season we played with a deep playmaker in Norwood using long passing range to spray the ball to the flanks and find either the advanced fullback or centreback. Alongside the we had Berge pushed right up on the right to the point where he was almost a second 10 behind the striker. On the left we then deployed Fleck/Osborn as the busy player in midfield to buzz around and break things up and then try and spring us forward carrying the ball. Why judge a young player on different standards than experienced players. He's not ready to start yet but has the ability to score goals from a deep lying midfield position. He's a box to box midfield player 6 foot plus good in the air and physically strong and although right footed can play down the left. We've been crying out for players like this for the last few seasons. Whether he can adapt to the championship remains to be seen. He's only 21 but he showed along with Arblaster against Burton that he can go past players that enables the team to get up the pitch quickly.
All players want more game time I hope his agent is not in his ear. He will be an asset from the bench to start with and has to be part of the match day squad for me as he brings something different. Its too early to be making decisions he should be given an opportunity to be tested first.
The standard of a lot of Bundesliga is poor. The league was a bit of a running joke for years and aside from 5 or 6 teams there's very little to shout about. Those scrapping around at the bottom would struggle to make an impression in the Championship.Ollie Burke plays for werder Bremen ffs, the standard at the bottom end of the bundesliga is about mid table champ.
