I have not seen him yet. Has anyone else seen, or remember him playing to give an opinion?

He is a box to box midfielder who gets forward and puts his foot in. Also he has a good shot on him. I was rather we got him properly right before starting him now though.

I think this video shows all these qualities!

He was one of the summer signings I was most excited about. Box to box and knows where the net is, but his fitness is a major worry.

I reallg don't have a clue what Cloughs preferred midfield three will be this year though. I can only assume that yesterday was the beginning of the end for Doyle and McGinn which leads me to think he might still look for someone to take up the 'holding' role that isn't Reed.

He could well be but he has to overcome this groin injury. He's had this problem for at least 4 months. If it's chronic it'll continue to cause an issue. It may be worth trying him for a few minutes against Mansfield.

Hodgy not trying to have a dig or anything buddy so don't take it personal but how do you mean is he the answer? The answer to what?. I think when you weigh up yesterday you can't cast any real final verdict on what the problems are if any real ones. As it has been said many a time we had a good few newbies on the pitch mate. You have to give all of these a few more games before making any decisions. As for Wallace again as said if he is fit he could be a class act for us in middle. I wouldn't want to act to rashly yet personally, we did play some promising stuff first half, I think we just need to put a proper back four out there from now on and let the players get a feel for eachother and hopefully it will all click.

Is the question "Can you name a player who inexplicably passed a medical but has hardly featured in pre-season due to injury?"?

Wallace played the holding role at York.

Interesting. That's not his natural position though and we'd arguably be losing his best abilities there.

Doyle is still the best suited player for that position in my opinion, whether he's good enough for us is another question.

No offence taken. I just thought that we were too light-weight in the middle and Basham didn't provide a physical presence to protect the likes of Reed, Scougill and co, resulting in losing the majority of midfield challenges.

Given that neither Doyle or McGinn now fit the bill either, I was wodering if we had other options within the club or if we needed to look elsewhere before the window closes.

At the time of starting this thread I had just posted on another thread regarding the above issue and didn't repeat it at the start of this thread by mistake. Please accept my apologies.

He looked good in his Fenerbahce cameo but he seems to have the same sort of fitness levels as Lee Williamson did when we signed him, sadly. Shame because he was more lively in 20 minutes against the Turks than Basham was in 90 yesterday.

Thanks for that. I was at the Fenerbahce game but I couldn't tell who was who among the new players as the programme didn't give names to numbers and the Public Address system was so distorted by echos to hear them either.

Personally i took a screenshot on my phone of the line ups at the Fenerbache, and kept looking at it for reference.
