Is Tom Cannon the most useless striker we've ever had?

Yes.

No need for explanation, we've all got eyes.

He’s been played out of position a lot of times. I see him as a poacher like Billy Sharp. Would he be better in a two? You can’t score 11 goals in 24 and be totally ineffective.

We simply have to pray the Danny Ings can recover quickly and get playing because we genuinely have one usable striker in Campbell and at the minute (like many of our players) its just not working for him. As soon as I see Cannon readying himself to come on the pitch I tap out because there is zero that he brings to the team. We don't create a lot of chances, but he barely breaks sweat and when he does get the ball he invariably loses it. A monumnetal error in recruiting him last season by everyone involved.

I can sympathise with the lack of service argument because Moore, Mcburnie, and Brewster never set the place alight did they, and that is down to overplaying the ball in the final third, and allowing them to get 10 men behind the ball so they can't break on us..

The floated cross, to a packed defence and we wonder why we can't score, were trying to feed on scraps then shut up shop, and its not working.

See thier goal Saturday, big punt upfield (from 10 yards more than where the foul was made) won a header, flicked it on, quick whip across the box, game over..

So let's not worry about getting hit on the break, they can't counter attack if we score..

What i don't get Joe is , why, if he isn't getting the ball or any service, then why not drop deep and try to get involved? I played as a striker [only sunday football] but went looking for the ball if nowt was happening.
I can only assume that he is lazy. Fan's can accept a poor poor performance if a guy gives his all but Tom just ambles along.
Surely the coaching staff can see what we all see, and Wilder rambles on about players must be "running around"so how does he get a shirt if he's so lazy?
Dunno.

Cam someone answer this question why was he scoring goals at Stoke and not here. Is it to do with style of play they used or what. Only because if you buy a player you should know their strengths and what type of support he was given to enable him to score.
Don’t think he is crap, just don’t think we are playing to his strengths. So begs the question why buy him if we ain’t going to play to his strengths. Or play him at all. As others have said, why have players who moved on when often called crap and are doing well.
The challenge for Wilder is to make a decision on what style of play he wants and then make sure he has the players to do it. If not able to do then he needs to look at strengths and weaknesses of his team and adapt the style of play to try and produce a successful team.
Has someone else said, January could be interesting.
Totally baffling why we signed him. We seemed to get into a bidding war with Sunderland and unfortunately we won.
I remember him playing for Stoke against us and coming with a big reputation, well he was shite and they subbed him at half time.
Warning bells were ringing then.

as a lone striker, he simply cannot play that role.

If we put him in a two, he might surprise and get a few goals... like he did at stoke

He is not a lone striker and or a winger
This. As poor as he's been, probably unfair to completely write him off until (IF!) we see him played in a front 2. Annoyingly I think Moore would of been a good partner for him, not the best, but he was the best fit out of what we had.

I'll get pelters for this but if I was Wilder right now, I'd seriously consider signing Patrick Bamford. As you say, our options are scarily weak once you remove Campbell from the equation (and he's looked poor and unfit), and we can't buy or loan anyone. Bamford is a free agent, maybe Wilder could get a tune out of him.

It's time to set aside personal opinions on and think of the good of the club, because we are going down if we don't get a grip fast. We simply need more competition up front.

Or, let's sign Ollie Burke again. After his hat-trick in the Bundesliga (including a header) he's obviously the man we need ..........

We need to get behind him

And shove him all the way to Pond Street

For Stoke his shots hit the target 50% of the time which is an exceptionally high rate (team average is usually between 30-35%). For United, he's at 25%. There are no other noticeable differences in his underlying numbers and against his peers, he's a terrible all round footballer

Yes. But hes under contract so we are fecked. I'm not into personal criticism but for the love of God....who thought signing him was a good idea and who sanctioned the deal?? As an aside....he reminds me of someone I work with. .tries to look busy but we all know they are useless...none of us want them there but they have a contract....

Looks like some random bloke down the pub on a Tuesday evening playing skittles

Who the feck is that
The amazing Laurens Ten Heuvel. Signed from Telstar. May have been the record label. May have been the football team. I used to sit on the Kop and a guy behind us called him Ten Hoovers. Funny what sticks in your memory!

Each of our four strikers:-
Cannon and Campbell are lazy and seemingly do not either know or have the desire to make runs and create space for themselves or others.
One has the potential to be a wonderful player, but that is all it is, potential he really should be out on loan learning his craft.
Ings, we just pray he stays fit as he is without doubt the one who knows how to do his job, but has not played enough in the last two years and needs luck on his side to stay fit.

Hopefully Wilder can give Cannon and Campbell a kick in the right direction

Campbell only ever runs if he has a chance of scoring…..

Saturday our press was non existence literally no pressure on the ball until about 15 yards from half way line
