But Ipswich were really poor, should have beaten them,
Agree. We had plenty of chances but made baffling decisions in front of goal.
We showed a lack of ambition starting the match with C. Evans and substitutions to bring on some flair were made too late.

Very very frustrating afternoon.

That's the difference. Villa, Wolves or Cardiff would have beaten them. Even though Ipswich have got 7 points from the last 9, they're bang average, but so are we. If somebody had said we'd be 'bang average' back in August, I'd have settled for that. Plenty of time and games to improve our end of season.

Clean sheet and an away point. Terrible game but not a disaster.

We've not won today largely because our creative element of Brooks, Holmes and Duffy were all missing or not started. When Brooks came on he sounded bright but the tone of the game was set. I would have liked to see Holmes start but today is an ok result. Sadly Boro won but they were at home to Barnsley and have spent a fortune, its not surprising they are now showing up.

I think people who are bang average will be furious you dropped that shower of shite Ipswich put out today in with them

what a stupid op

weve had 2 stiff away games in 5 days at fulham and ipswich
pswich have won 3 away games since february
and boros had 2 nice homegames

we now have 10 left 6 at home

next 2 burton and forest

boro go to brntford and then play wolves

stop writing us off when we geta result away
boro drew their last away game

compare those fuckers

Strange game...no matter how poor we were Ipswich were much worse...

It's because Villa, Wolves and Cardiff are better than us.

As well as Fulham!

Its our inconsistency since game 17 that drives me mad. Oh & by the way there are no gimmies in this division, Hull, Bolton, Millwall, QPR etc.

Need I say more?

was bristol citys draw at burton today a defeat
was derbys 3-3 draw at reading a defeat
was boros 3=3 at sunderlad in their last away game a defeat

championship is very competitive

and we still are in there game in hand 6 home games left to go

we are chasing 5th or 6th not overtaking cardiff wolves fulham or villa
that ships sailed

no mater how much we think we are sliding with 30 points still to play for we still can make top 6

and its likely for wolves cardiff villa and fulham its possible 2 of those still wont make the prem
how disappointing will that be

and now theres a distinct possibility wolves can blow it

I think playing for 30 pints is a top idea. I've always been pretty crap at playing, and am much better at supporting, but would happily play for a 30 pints a game bonus, especially for craft beer!

A good result against a team that beat Sheffield's best earlier in the week

Only for the toys out of the pram brigade.Decent result and performance, only one team in it really.

We're still in the mix for the playoffs and we've got a home game in hand. Come on Blades!
I enjoyed last season when we didn't have to worry about the playoffs. I'm looking forward to an early summer holiday this year too. Some of the team are too.

Based on the hope some are clinging on to for the play offs, it is a bad point and for me ends my hopes of a play off push.

Yeah Boro have tough games coming up but so do we. We’d probably need to win 7 from 10 to be in with a shout and I can’t see it happening.

The top 6 now is made up of the teams I expect to be in there. Minus of course, the pre-season runaway favourites, who will just have to win it next year.

There is a chance Derby might lose there bottle as usual, but with Rowett in charge, I think they’ll just do enough.

You are free to lay off the propagandist routine sometimes.

As much as there's some needless slashing from some at times and a few with negative agendas, it is a football forum with light-hearted banter.

With the greatest of respect I find your OM no different really to the Pedro's Wingers of this world.

Even the most loyal dedicated long tem Blade can still retain a healthy element of realism.

I really wouldn't worry about everyone else, it's our performances that count and it would be a incredible/unlikely feat if we got 6th place.

Ipswich are only four points below us. Therefore an away draw against them is a good result.
Home draws against Burton or Forest would be bad results.
Those are the games we need to win

And there, my friend, goes a common misunderstanding. But it's not just you, so don't take it personally, but the idea that a certain result against another team is a "good" result, or a "bad" result is flawed. Because a football season throws up all kinds of result. It simply isn't possible to say which games are "should wins", or even, "must wins". Because results don't follow the form of teams. Occasionally you'll get the most surprising and undeserved of results, be it to your advantage or disadvantage, for no reason whatsoever.

What I'm trying to say is, you cannot pick the games and say "this one a definite win" or "that one a definite draw/loss" because it just isn't like that.

What matters is results - it doesn't matter who they are against.

You are suggesting here that some games are more important than others. They aren't. They are all important and some may appear easier than others, but they aren't necessarily.

I was there watching today's game first-hand. That wasn't a good result v Ipswich - it was not far short of a disaster. Ipswich (and Reading) have to be the two worst teams I've seen this season. They were absolutely clueless, but we couldn't find a way to beat them. It was a very, very disappointing performance and an ominous sign, to me, that we won't even make the play-offs now.

I don’t know where you get that from?

I AM suggesting that some results are better than others.
An away win against Man City would be a better result than a home win against Chesterfield for example. Same result but one more deserving of praise than the other.

An away draw at Ipswich is far from a disaster as they have shown over the course of the season they are a decent side. Maybe our players deserve some credit for making them look bad?
