Just another crock from CW. How come Rochdale, Crewe and Southend could handle the big crowds?

Well personally I think it's bleeding obvious......instead of said big crowd being hostile towards them, while cheering on and encouraging the home team (like used to happen) it seems the right thing to do now is the friggin opposite!

So away teams can play without hearing sections of the crowd jeering them, abusing them and booing them for a misplaced pass. They turn up knowing they have an easy afternoon.

Couple set to sign, couldn't get them over the line.....

"Couldn't get them over the line"

That's the phrase we'll hear...

Going to have to disagree with you chaps. I'm as cynical as they come having seen how we've been shafted over the years - but yes, I do think we will add at least a further 2 players to the squad before end of August.

I think Wilder will do that. I think he's a very genuine bloke and knows what is needed.

The only concern I have is the same one I raised at the start of the season. Wilder and his unhealthy obsession with "value for munneh". He lost out on a key player, Kyle McFadzean, because he wouldn't pay £50k more. McFadzean would have given his right arm to be here. He even refused to train at MKD and handed in his notice (thus depriving himself of a cut of the transfer fee) in order to be able to join us. But Wilder wouldn't raise another £50k so he ended up going to Burton bleeding Albion!

Now...instead Wilder bought O'Connell. A young kid who may well come good, but it hasn't plugged the massive gap that we have for a strong centre half. So now we are looking to buy another one! So, that's 2 players then and 2 sets of wages instead of shelling out a fraction more and getting the bloke we wanted in the first place.

Chris Wilder "value for munneh". Eh?

"Buy cheap - Buy twice" Chris. You need to learn that quick - tough I know because you're a Sheffielders - tighter than a Scotsman with the generosity squeezed out! But it's true!

What would you give now to have McFadzean at centre half instead of the cheapo defenders you brought in?

It's easy to know the price of everything and the value of nothing eh?

MKD refused to sell him to us. It had nothing to do with transfer fees. It the end it was their decision on who they sold to and not us or the player

There wont be anymore signings and you will hear the tried and tested formula of excuses.

The Wilder will try and placate the fans by saying the squad is good enough to win games, but in reality the players Wilder has signed still find it difficult to deliver on the big stage.

As a consequence we will will be relegated by Xmas.

The benefit of this is we can build a side capable of getting out of Lge 2 at the first attempt,so the cycle begins again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the other hand we do a Wigan or Barnsley,by seeing a miracle in a change of fortune.

Which senario will it be,knowing us it will be senario one as we like making records for all the wrong reasons.

Fin.

Worrying thing is we don't adapt to change. My worry is when the deadline passes there's no manoeuvring with loans. We will have Wilder in charge of a bunch unknown of players that have not gelled, have very little confidence and by his admission are struggling to handle the big crowds.

I don't know the full story about Wilder's previous jobs but my general understanding is that he worked under very difficult circumstances and achieved unlikely success. I wonder if the scenario that we are potentially facing (threadbare squad, unhappy fans, no cash to spend) was always likely to be the case and the board appointed a man who they believed could steer us through such troubled waters.

I'm sure our Board are more than happy to recreate the set of circumstances in which he seems to flourish then!

Adams gone, Brayford gone. Got off to a good start. Now just have to stop paying the wages on time...

Do you think it was his decision or the board's?

Just when we thought McCabe was actually going to back his manager, we are again left with a half complete, patched up squad.

Bristol City decided they were going to go for it. Went out, signed every position they needed and went up at a canter.
Why is it so difficult for us?

We've just got 1.7mil in the bank and about 20k a week off the wage bill (at least) in the past 2 weeks. Yet we still go around low balling everyone and saying we're trying.
We are such cheap bastards. The biggest club in the league by a mile and I wouldn't fancy us in a bidding war against fucking Shrewsbury.

Only 123 sleep nights chaps!

Doesn't help when we need to already replace two of the new signings (Hussey and Wilson) because they aren't good enough.

I would say that Wilder has had a decent backing from McCabe actually. O'Connell and Moore wouldn't have been cheap. Paying off Hammond wouldn't have been cheap either.
