I read with interest that Coventry City have found new owners from the four bids tabled to the administrators. The Ricoh Arena has been offered rent free for a year but the new owners are committed to the club owning its own ground within 3 years. Makes you wonder why other clubs not as well supported as ourselves can attract four bids to take over the ownership yet we have attracted hardly any interest at all since McCabe said he wanted out ?
Maybe the only way forward out of the current mess we find ourselves in would be for KM to sell up at a low price and walk away with the Bramall lane and the Academy sites to develop as he pleases.
New owners would then be free to invest in a new bang up to date stadium, surely the council would jump at the chance of off loading the DVS site.
I know most fans will be horrified at the thoughts of leaving BDTBL but it makes more and more sense every year, the lane is starting to look shabby red and white cladding can't hide it forever and the kop needs a complete rebuild. The only two decent stands John St and the South stand cant really be improved on and not much room for an increase in capacity anywhere especially if KM gets his way and puts more offices in the south east corner.
Rotherham have done it and it has revitalised their fortunes, another club doing well at a new stadium is Brighton, it could be the way forward ............ new owners, new ideas, a new stadium on the DVS site with good transport links (it does not have to be one of the new faceless arena's in a retail park) could be just what we need.

You are aware that the preferred bidders for Coventry are effectively the same people already in charge aren't you?

You know, the ones who can't afford to pay for anything, yet want to build a new ground?

ffs, here we go again.

I don't like getting into the nitty gritty of the ground and all that shit, however I feel that the signing of Weir is a good thing and probably McCabe's last chance of winning the fans over. I am excited for the 1st time that we now have a manager and owner who have the same vision so let's give this a try. Success is our only way out of this mess but here we go with another load of shite.

Do me a favour though Metal, don't slag off BDTBL, especially as you don't fucking go. Might look old and tired in your eyes but it's my 2nd home and alot better than all the grounds I have been to in this division and the majority of the ones above,

S'true. I hardly go, but it is a spiritual site for me and a place I have to visit when I am up there. I have had such wonderful times there and to me, it is the only place Sheffield United live and belong. We are the city centre club, and Bramall Lane is right where it should be. Moving to DVS would destroy our fan base to a level well below us and geographically stick us closer to those bastards at S6. Sure, BDTBL doesn't look pretty - when has it ever - but it's United's home. And always will be.

So you all want to stick with McCabe in League One for years to come selling the best young players from the academy to make ends meet in a stadium hemmed in with student apartments and silly offices stuck in two of the corners.
A stadium that would need major investment just to bring it up to the present capacity of the sty which has three corners still undeveloped ???
We will just be another Crewe playing in a northern Leyton Orient type ground if McCabe don't sell up soon.

Move the pitch closer to the main stand, paint the steelwork red and it would look great, that would keep most of the League One crowd under cover while we build new stands on the other three sides. Enough room to hold 60,000 eventually.

I would rather watch Sheffield United play Orient in the full members cup at a half empty Bramall lane on a pissing down November Tuesday night ,than watch a re fangled club play Man Utd , with a capacity crowd on a glorious Saturday afternoon with nobs on at the DVS. Truth.
There is no SUFC without Bramall Lane

I didn't start supporting and going to the Lane because of McCabe so I certainly will not stop going because of him either

Jesus, no, Metalblade. That place is looks damned awful and did do when Toytown played there. How the hell do you get that lovely 'closed in' feeling? We spent long enough being ridiculed for having a three sided ground, why go back? Why take United out of Sheffield?

You're taking the piss, man.

I'm fairly sure you're saying this to wind us all up. But on the off chance you're not, this is absolutely the worst idea I have heard from you....since your last idea.

I don't often agree with metalblade and my heart doesn't agree with him/her on this one but I can see where metal is coming from on this one. Trouble is that if anybody with money decided a combined Sheffield team was the only way forward then I reckon that the only answer in their eyes would be to move the new merged team to DVS.
Think about it, excellent links by road and rail and carte blanche to develop the site as you like and earn some cash from redeveloping whatever could be redeveloped on the former grounds.
Can't see it happening but if it did I wouldn't follow the merged team.
If SUFC alone moved to the DVS I'd still follow.
I'm just grateful it won't be an option in my football-watching lifetime

A well thought out articulated question M.B. I won't be as quick to put you down. But BDTBL is my personal mecca and to even think of moving from shoreham st were must of us have shed blood sweat and tears is a non runner , copy toytown give it a rest , we are who we are through tradition and our history , lose that and we become like a franchise , blowing in the wind with no were to go, Brighton have been moving from billy to bob for years , so no S2 is were I want to stay , besides when you come through Abbydale on the train , them floodlights come into view and you know your home . U.T.B.

Hello, hello - can you hear me? Good.

Well, as soon as possible, what do you have available?

Next Thursday? nothing sooner?

OK, I'll take that one please.

My name? Shaw, Christian name? George Bernard

So just to confirm, that's me booked in next Thursday at the Dignitas clinic

Oh, just a thought, can you do group rates? - I've a feeling that there may be some more from this area.....

Sorry to have to piss on your bonfire, but since they knocked the floodlights down you can't see them.

There are for,s and against,s to every argument, my main objection to DVS is its location, theres very few drinking establishments around it and I cant walk to Ecclesall or London Road for pre game or post match apperitifs.

Apart from the corner pin , which holds around 30 people , we are struggling to get in the mood

Ah, but what about the excellent stress-relief facilities the area has to offer? Where better to be when some negative knocker expressing reservations about a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Oldham fails to be persuaded when you point out that in 1963 Wednesday lost 0-1 to Oldham and still won the league by 39 points and sends you loopy?

So you want to move from a great stadium (second best in the country according to 1 journalist) to a shit stadium so the shit stadium can be redeveloped? why not redevelop Bramall Lane? there's plenty of space.

Reasons not to goto DVS

1. Its a shit hole
2. Its in a shit hole
3. That shithole isnt in walking distance of anything

The DVS erm no thanks.

McCabe will fuck eventually.

That is the point there is no space at the lane, can't make the Bramall lane or John St stands any bigger and not much scope for the South stand now McCabe's hotel is directly behind one corner. How long before other developments restrict any improvements for the kop ? Should we ever get back to the top tier of the game a 32,000 ground capacity will not be good enough to sustain us for long.
