Nobody should be forced to mourn, this isn’t North Korea, but whatever your view on the royal family it should’t be difficult to respect the feelings and emotions of others at a time like this.

I don’t agree with sport being cancelled though, It’s sad of course but life goes on, we’re all working, shopping etc and you can go pubs with mates, restaurants, cinema, Alton towers etc - why cancel sporting events ? A minute silence and god save the queen would be a good way for some of us to show their respect in their own way and get on with things.

If you don’t want to go to an event and would prefer to stay at home and watch the news 24hrs solid, or grieve in other ways then so be it.

What about the businesses and families relying on this weekends income, whilst for others it’s business as usual. Madness.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that they’ve switched Sky Sports News to sky news feed. You know where to find it on numerous channels. You can watch movies, comedy but not sport!? Farcical

I'm presuming the EFL will be reimbursing fans the cost of their travel and accommodation seeing as it's their decision. Wankers

If you believe that then I have some magic beans to sell you for your best cow.

From a personal point of view im glad, im going to the penistone show and it would have been a major rush to get to the game, now i can enjoy a full day at a wonderful show. I know this is a selfish view but i also think it will help in the short term with our injury crisis.

Likewise, but I had the respect to address what you were saying and attempt to see your perspective without arguing.

I guess debates aren't enjoyable outside your servile bubble.
I find it impossible to debate with someone incapable of reasoning. I gave up on them last night.
You did well with them, but sadly the same end result.

You were ignoring what I was actually saying, despite me saying is several times, and making out I'd said things which I hadn't. If that's your idea of a debate then I'll happily leave you to it.

From a purely Sheffield United perspective, I think it would suit us if the games were to be postponed for the full 10 days.
Our squad is wafer thin so any respite would be welcomed.
We would then have until October 1st until our next fixture with the international break providing further relief.

From a national perspective, I'm torn.

I wouldn't underestimate the chance of violence / unrest if games go ahead.
You can see on this forum how polarising the views on the Monarchy are.
Large gatherings of football fans, differing views, during an emotional period for our country... has the feels for a boil over.
Throw in the general pent up frustrations with the cost of living crisis and disdain for the Government....
Just shows the low level of how to manage your emotional intelligence if that happened doesn’t it

How people can’t come together as human beings to show respect to a person who has passed away and who means much to many or at least hold their council whilst this is happening shows what a gob shite mob we are becoming

Quayside Market down at Victoria Quays will still be going ahead. They've said they won't be hanging out the bunting or playing live music, but that small traders will have already planned for it.

I'd have been for the matches going ahead without any music being played over the PA, national anthem, requisite silence then just get on with it. Stuff upper lip and all that.

i understand why part of me had been expecting it to be postponed after all they said in operation london bridge, all sport would be postponed & actually i would have liked to go & pay my respects with minute silence & national anthem, in similar to when gary speed passed away & i think it couldve been incredibly powerful

but in these times, they have to be extremely risk averse & i guess they can't risk that 0.1% of the crowds that we all knoe would show an extreme lack of respect, anyone whose watch a cup final the last 7 months know who im on about. i know its a klopp kop cop out to not to mention them by name

Cool story. You gave up, that's why you've spent all morning stalking me around the forum making laughing smileys at all of my posts.

And your attempt at reasoning was telling people to fuck off.

The Elite Ice Hockey League is going ahead this weekend (first game of the season) Sheffield Steelers are at home vs Cardiff Devils. A bumper crowd would be great to see If anyone fancies a change.

if it doesn't get cancelled....Street Arts show in our town has....

Bert .Did you get the full amount refunded as I cancelled via Trainline on Weds this week for travel on Thursday using the 10 second option? I lost £10.20 on that refund.....

"Reason"
Reason is the capacity of consciously applying logic by drawing conclusions from new or existing information, with the aim of seeking the truth. It is closely associated with such characteristically human activities as philosophy, science, language, mathematics, and art, and is normally considered to be a distinguishing ability possessed by humans.

Not even close mate. I passed Saturn about 10 minutes ago.

And do feel free to answer the questions posed.

Yeah sure mate, sorry.

I can assure you that you may still laugh, drink and wank to your heart's content.

In my view it's definitely a good thing it's off. Rotherham are on good form, well up for the match, so are we too of course on both fronts but we're struggling injuries wise, it is possible Ahmedodzic isn't available either meaning an almost certain switch to 4 at the back which the players have never looked comfortable in for large periods. The game will now be arranged till after October 1st when we'll have more players back and potentially Rotherham not in as good form, but that's a lesser consideration.

Seems a strange move as I think you’d see hordes of Union Jacks and St George’s flags across every ground in the country and not a dry eye when GSTQ was sung.

Given people are at work and will be able to shop, go drinking, etc., seems odd not allow them to do something genuinely communal with their kin.

But it’s the EFL, so go figure.

Trainline charge a refund fee based on the value of the ticket, the maximum should be £10 though (for tickets over £15). Not sure where the extra 20p loss would have come from!

Agree but I recall when there was the covid mask debate that got quite heated on here at the lane in the real world everybody acted normally and with respect
