Purely from a football perspective no no noFrom a purely Sheffield United perspective, I think it would suit us if the games were to be postponed for the full 10 days.
Our squad is wafer thin so any respite would be welcomed.
We would then have until October 1st until our next fixture with the international break providing further relief.
From a national perspective, I'm torn.
I wouldn't underestimate the chance of violence / unrest if games go ahead.
You can see on this forum how polarising the views on the Monarchy are.
Large gatherings of football fans, differing views, during an emotional period for our country... has the feels for a boil over.
Throw in the general pent up frustrations with the cost of living crisis amongst most and disdain for the Government....
I replied on shoutbox but me personally I’m the other way, if game is off and so is Preston and I’m assuming Swans on Tuesday then that’s two obvious if not 3 that you are going to have to find somewhere to playFrom a purely Sheffield United perspective, I think it would suit us if the games were to be postponed for the full 10 days.

You appear to have descended into deliberate and complete misrepresentation of the point I was actually making, which is a pity, but there you go. Anyway, enjoyed the debate until your last post so thanks for that and let’s leave it there. The match is cancelled anyway now so looks like everyone’s freedom has been restricted. So the Queen not being allowed to do something isn't a restriction of freedom? If the police, for example, stopped you leaving your house tonight when you wanted to go out would you not see that as a restriction of your freedom? If you had to go places for the rest of your life with an entourage of body guards would you not see that as a restrictions of your freedom?
If you're using personal wealth as a measure of freedom then surely you think that absolutely nobody, except a few, are free? I can't afford to buy myself a yacht and sail around the world for the rest of my life, does that mean I don't have the freedom to make choices and do things that could eventually allow me to do that? Absolutely not. Not being able to build your own pub doesn't mean you don't have freedom. What a truly ridiculous suggestion![]()

Likewise, but I had the respect to address what you were saying and attempt to see your perspective without arguing.I'm getting tired of repeating myself and you just ignoring what I'm saying. I really can't be bothered any more.
Absolutely fucking pathetic. I note that no-one has yet been able to explain why cancelling a sporting event is a mark of respect to someone, especially when said events are frequently used to mark respect for the deceased?
What else should we stop doing this weekend?
Laughing, drinking, wanking?
God forbid anyone enjoy themselves before trudging back into work, which of course will be going ahead as planned.
Fucking dickheads, the lot of em.

For a start i'm not even going this weekend. I am more bothered about the hard working people who have scrimped and saved to afford to travel to a game and buy a ticket, I highly doubt any refund for transport/petrol/hotels will be issued. If you aren't facing any sort of adversity through the "cost of living crisis" you are either a Tory, earning too much and completely out of touch with the reality of what normal people actually earn, a boomer etc etc. Well i don't know about you, but my earnings have been affected by the increased deductions from our mate HMRC, thanks to corona etc. As you are clearly a royalist/monarch botherer or whatever you want to be called, let me break it down for you, most people dont really care, we have enough to worry about, never mind the death of a relatively pointless outdated monarch from an outdated system that is a burden on the tax payer. What has “cost of living crisis” and income tax got to do with any of this? The same rate of income tax you’ve been paying since 2007 that the Labour government set. Just comes across as another “I wAnT tO gO tO tHe FoOtBaLl” post. Completely ignorant and selfish. If the country is to mourn the death of the longest reigning monarch in our history and follow the protocol for such a situation then suck it up. You might have to miss a football match or two. Not the end of the world.
It isn’t political. What happened to keep politics out of football
Do we expect further postponements for her funeral and then the Coronation over the next few weeks?
