She chose her life. If she didn't like it, she could've said, "this is all a load of antiquated BS, I'm no different than anyone else, I'm off to get a real job."

Poor people don't have the freedom to go anywhere or do anything because we can't afford to. We have no say in the matter, plus don't get the absurd luxury she has lived in. I know which one I would pick, if not for my sense of shame.

That's fair enough. I wouldn't be happy with having to spend my days surrounded by people, not being able to just go somewhere on my own because I felt like it. It just wouldn't feel like any sort of freedom to me.

Be a complete piss take if they cancel all the games. In the face of the cost of living crisis with fans spending their hard earned, already heavily taxed earnings to go and see their team. Cancelled trains and hotels all likely non refundable. Yeah its sad she's dead and all that, but life goes on for the peasants.
What has “cost of living crisis” and income tax got to do with any of this? The same rate of income tax you’ve been paying since 2007 that the Labour government set. Just comes across as another “I wAnT tO gO tO tHe FoOtBaLl” post. Completely ignorant and selfish. If the country is to mourn the death of the longest reigning monarch in our history and follow the protocol for such a situation then suck it up. You might have to miss a football match or two. Not the end of the world.

Really, you think she had the freedom to go anywhere or do anything she liked? You reckon she could've just nipped down to Tesco for a frozen pizza whenever she felt like it? I imagine even if she had wanted to she'd have been accompanied by an entourage. I don't believe she was allowed to go anywhere in public on her own.
But she agreed with the conditions that led to her not being allowed to go anywhere in public on her own. She wanted to be seen as above all us peasants and keep her royal title.

If she wanted to go somewhere in public on her own, she had the choice. Chuck the crown and live like a normal person. Others can't choose their fate so easily.

Yes I believe in absolutely concrete terms that she had the freedom to go anywhere she liked and do anything she liked

Going to Tesco for a frozen pizza, along with a million other things that you and I take for granted, were never ever part of her consideration. She may as well have lived on another planet.

Surely there would be no better mark of respect to our late Queen, than 30k people stood in solemn silence?
Only have to look on here yesterday at the abuse from certain posters aimed at the Queen and then to other posters who differed.

Wasn't it said that she didn't actually want or expect to become Queen but when it fell to her she took it on because of a sense of duty? I could've made that up. Either way, walking away from the throne won't really have helped that much. Look how much scrutiny Harry still gets. Nobody born that high up in the royal family can just go anywhere they like on their own, regardless of whether they wanted any of it or not.

Followed by foul mouthed bigots hurling abuse at each other, referee s being called everything from a pig to a dog, coins and bottles being thrown at players trying to take a throw in and the possibility of fights and arrests. And that’s just at Graves Park.

Whether she wanted to or not isn't the point. There were many things that she absolutely wouldn't have been able to do even if she wanted to. That isn't freedom.

Hope we don't bottle it and keep the game on if it's for the clubs to decide.

Could open up a nice 4 point lead on Norwich if we get a win.

The athletic reporting govt officials happy for games to go ahead this weekend and up to the EPL and EFL to decide.
NO that’s not quite right . The Govt is ADVISING to cancel / postpone all sporting events this weekend but the decision will be left to the sports Governing bodies

So you'd swap what she had for what you've got? That's fair enough, I'm just saying I wouldn't and her life wasn't 'luxury' in my view. How many times in her life do you reckon she's been able to just wander down to the local pub on her own after work on a Friday evening?
I didn’t actually say I would want to swap. I’m not a supporter of a hereditary rather than meritocratic system so I actually wouldn’t want to swap. I was responding to the point of restriction of freedom. Lots of people can’t go down the pub on a Friday night because they simply can’t afford it. That is a real restriction of freedom.

No it isn't. Not being able to afford to do something isn't anywhere near the same as not being allowed to do something.

Good point, and I imagine duty is a large reason they all hold on to the royal title.

Harry has walked away from his public role as a royal, but he has chosen to move into a new limelight. If he just went to live in Doncaster with a normal lass, I'm sure the scrutiny would largely dissappear.

The government guidance is above. It's down to each organisation, but they suggest for the day of the funeral arrangements are made so events don't overlap.

They're not advising to postpone tomorrow but for the day of the funeral

But even the most one eyed republican, can find a little bit of respect and solemn reflection inside them, for our head of state of 70 years…Surely?
If our head of state actually helped run the state, or positively influenced it, then maybe.

Waving at people and occupying prime real estate don't really do it for me.
