There's a proposal to cancel Saturday's fixtures as part of the mourning process for the Queen. Does anyone know if this is true of our game v Rotherham? I read somewhere that the Premier League fixtures had been cancelled. Not sure about the EFL.

It depends on if they implement the 12 days of mourning but with a fragmented season because of the World Cup fixture conjunction could be a problem.

Reading up on the protocol for this situation. There will be no professional sports events in the uk until the day after the funeral which will take place on Mon 19th September.

Tributes to Her Majesty continue and Rick Parry, chair of the EFL, released a statement on behalf of the EFL.
The United Kingdom will enter a period of mourning after the death of the Queen, as detailed in a document called ‘Operation London Bridge’.
The plan sets out the nine days following the monarch’s death, and it is expected that during that time sports fixtures would be postponed.

UTB & RIP HRH

There is a meeting regarding protocol and guidance tomorrow morning, along with other sports and relevant committees, I’d expect an announcement by mid to late morning.

I hope all sport is cancelled this weekend. It might be a generational thing but I’m in my 60’s and have no wish to do anything jolly at the moment- a very sad day for our nation.
Your choice if course. I'm also in my 60s but I'd really like to attend the match on Saturday at which I'm sure everyone who chooses to attend could show their respect in their own way .

Exactly

Considering the plans that will have been made I feel a lot of people will be very pissed off if they are all cancelled.
Correct I've got friends coming up for the match what's got rail tickets booked and match tickets. Get the matches played.

With our injuries mounting up maybe no fixtures over the period of mourning would help as our next match wouldn’t be until October the 1st.

That said a mounting fixture list and nothing to do over the weekends doesn’t sound great.

Difficult decisions between showing respect and a fixture pile up, especially with the World Cup break. Interesting to see what is decided, even more so with Fridays games already being cancelled.

Be a complete piss take if they cancel all the games. In the face of the cost of living crisis with fans spending their hard earned, already heavily taxed earnings to go and see their team. Cancelled trains and hotels all likely non refundable. Yeah its sad she's dead and all that, but life goes on for the peasants.

This is the main reason to play them I think. Millions of people have spent lots of money across the country in the middle of a cost of living crisis. To cancel something for no real reason doesnt sit well with me. I don't see how cancelling is more respectful than going ahead with events alongside a tribute to The Queen.

You may get the odd dissenter but they'd be drowned out by the singing and applause I'd guess.

Then don't go? Many others will just crack on if allowed.

Had the minutes silence then an impromptu rendition of God Save The Queen. Fair few with the tears running
In the Hearts game it broke during the first half. They did a moment's silence to start the second half. Half the fans booed half the fans sang god save the Queen/king.
