Is losing the last 3 games a good thing?

Fantastic season and we should all be delighted to finish 9th,our best finish for 45 years.
Losing the last 3 games of this very long and tiring season has exposed the team/squad a little in certain areas
Has this done us a favour by exposing the weaknesses if we have a couple of injury’s ahead of next season so we can make changes for next year .
Zivkovic for me has done nothing in these last few games when brought on,admittedly with little service at times
I’m sure CW will have his wheeler dealer head on to bring in some new talent

Well, had we won all three instead of losing then we'd have finished 6th so, no, it's not really a good thing. It doesn't do much to take away from what a great season this has been but three losses is three losses.

And we've all known since before the first game that we needed to strengthen the squad. The surprise is that we're nowhere near as far short as some thought.

I concur, don’t think CWAK have learned anything they didn’t already know by us loosing, but its cost us a few million quid in league places.

Not to make it seem even crazier but actually if we’d won the last 3 we’d have finished 5th

I do see what you mean and you could argue the break due to Covid could end up working well for us. It's been like a new mini season where we totally lost momentum and whilst we have put in some of our best performances, we have also seen 3 or 4 of our very worst. We saw how we can be made to look very poor at this level and I think Wilder will have learnt from that because we haven't seen this team subjected to those sort of batterings all season . We're lucky in a way I suppose that these performances came when we had so many points on the board and not at the start of a new season where it took us totally by surprise.

I think today's defeat was as much down to lack of numbers than anything else. We should have been out of sight at half time but once we went behind it was game over due to the lack of options on the bench. You can't seriously expect to come back in a Premier League game with Leon and Zikovic up top.

We've learnt a lot I feel since lockdown. Far more than we would have if the season had ended in March. It's been a bit of a wake up call but the performances against Spurs, Chelsea and Wolves also showed that we weren't just running on momentum. We finished 13th in the post lockdown table which is probably about right to where we realistically are right now.

Yeah I said that. Not sure it is the worst thing..

I think it will remind the players (not so much Wilder) that we go where we are with hard work, organisation and being tough to beat but also doing basics - pressing, keeping the ball in good areas and defending the goal with our lives. We have been well beaten last three games and to two quite ordinary teams. They have done the things we used to do - block shots, get across, tackle etc and got wing backs high up the field and control midfield. Things we did before we came back.

Since the lock down whether it be fatigue, players off form, too many games, injuries - we have become a soft touch (those 3 home games apart) in the rest and too easy to play around/score against.

We need to get back to basics for me.

The players need to come back roaring to go but will help when we only play one game a week I think.

Losing games is never a good thing but I do get where you're coming from. It has certainly highlighted the areas we need to strengthen, especially regarding cover for positions. However, some of it you've just got to put down to mental and physical fatigue at the end of the season. Some players haven't performed well in the last few matches but performed very well over the season. Enda in particular looked like a seasoned pro in the prem and post lockdown seemed like he lost his confidence and looked to pass backwards and sideways, rather than run down the wing and put it through a defender's legs like he was doing week in week out earlier in the season.

The main way losing may have had a positive affect is if it motivates the players to come back stronger. I don't feel like any of them will want to go into next season, adding to a run of 3 bad games and results.

I'll treat this as a pre season and we know what Wilder did in the second season in the Championship. I'm expecting more of the same.

In some ways. We've been a wing and a prayer away from being exposed in certain areas all season (RWB, RCB). On the other hand, it's taken an unconventional fixture schedule to expose our physical style of play allied to our lack of squad depth in certain positions..The unique Moose situation has also exacerbated that. I think with our best outfit and a normal schedule we're a top six side, this season at least. This, however, is a cautionary tale for any future European forays and cup runs - a stark reminder why rest days are so important.

Neither good nor bad but exactly what is to be expected from a paper-thin squad lacking pace & creativity in possession.
CW has said exactly that in his interviews , plus the need for better quality strikers + more competition for places.
CW is dropping enough big hints so it's over to the Prince now.

With our best outfit , a top six side , hmm , maybe - if we scored more .... But it's a squad game + we are definitely not a top six squad.
