I don’t remember all this clamour to replace Wes during the summer although it now imperative we get someone new in the net.

Last season Wes was a perfectly adequate goalkeeper for what we needed at the same, solid and steady and could be relied upon. Since the step up he has been peppered with shots, made a handful errors that have proved costly and now it has progressed to the stage where every time we concede a goal it appears he has made an error and he looks completely shorn of all confidence. Goalkeeping is like playing as a striker. It is a position where there is nowhere to hid and a loss of confidence is catastrophic
Agree with all of that, but……

When I played it didn’t matter as much how good a keeper was with his passing. My job was basically throw it to a defender, or launch the fucker, that was about it.

It’s a different game now, a keeper has to be basically a part time extra defender, and be confident and accurate with the ball either out of hands or off the floor.

Wes sadly lacks this, his delivery is worse than Hermes.

The fact that Davies hasn’t usurped him speaks volumes about Davies too, Stoke gave him to us, that suggests they just wanted rid.

I don’t have the answers, but I would say a keeper is one of our January priorities

Playing behind our defence it is bound to make a keeper nervous . Wes has faced more shots at him and made more saves then any other keeper in the prem . Having said that I feel it is yet another position along with a few more that needs looking at . The squad in general wants a good dose of Andrews salts to clear out all the shite and with so many coming to the end of their contract may be a good time to act .Even though letting them become free agents will mean no transfer fees the club really needs a clear out which in my opinion should have happened some time ago but having no cash to spend has limited the last managers options . From top to bottom the club is in need of change sooner rather than later .

Hi Stegosaurus here

I remember before the season started I said he was wank and would cost us points.

I got shouted down by people impressed because he makes a few bread and butter saves that most keepers in the league would save.

Fact is. He is shit. I said he was shit first.

Reckon it is him that is affecting the defense mainly, unpredictable with poor distribution can't help settle them

Wes needs better competition and always did from the moment we were promoted. Hecky seemed happy with Davies as backup but really that's all he is.

So there is no competition.

For me we stick with Wes and maybe in Jan we look at bringing in a better competition for him. As that can be a this season or next season signing in the bag.

Perhaps the title should read:

Is it time to replace Wes and Adam Davies?

If Wes can make 4 glaring mistakes in the last 5 matches and still not lose his spot then it says all you need to know about Davies too.
Completely agree. On a good day, Wes is a solid keeper, but seems prone to silly decisions, especially when nervous / under pressure.

Every time I've seen Davies play he's been an accident waiting to happen.

I'd honestly stock with Wes, BUT get rid of Davies (or loan to champ?) and try to get a decent, older, experienced prem keeper as backup to give him extra training for making decisions under pressure.

Wes has most of the attributes needed, aside from kicking. Minor point but defenders could help more by giving him better passes along floor at correct speed. Watch how many times he's given a bobbling pass back which is slightly too hard / soft and he's got to take a touch before kicking. Top prem teams don't do that

I am not defending him mate but having to face more shots than any other goalie speaks volumes about the defence in front of him .

Thread should be:

"IS IT TIME TO REPLACE WES AND ADAM DAVIES".....

A: YES, YES AND DEFINITELY FUCKING YES.

With regards to the original question and after due consideration I say 'yes.'
