On Wednesday the chairman goes out of his way to defend the manager and today the manager is reportedly having a go at the club for not giving him enough money. Now it would seem to me if you are summoned to Brussels for emergency talks, have your reputation defended by the chairman the las tthing you do is then go and have a go publicly at the chairman.

A further point it also seems he would like to revert to type and spend his way out of trouble instead of working with the current players and squad. he has to go. Sorry about the rant.

I agree this is no way to treat the chairman after he has spent the last week defending him. If he doesn't like it then maybe he should quit.

This is a very confusing situation and i was really diappointed that we never got a straight answer from McCabe during the Q&A he held earlier this week.

The facts as i see them are that we are in profit in terms of arrivals and departures since we were relegated without taking into account the parachute payments.

We hardly spent massively during our time in the premiership when you contrast us with the like of Birmingham and Sunderland and we have the highest average attendance in the league.

I think that the only assumption that can be made is that the board want to see an improvement on the playing field before financing any further transfers and i suppose that is a very prudent attitude.

We are still lacking the drive through the centre of the park and i very much doubt this will be addressed by the time the window closes.

I don't think the problem is with the transfer prices, its more the wages. Speed, Beattie, Naysmith and Ehiogu will all be on around a million per year each with Beattie probably double that. We have a large squad and I reckon we are paying over the odds for what are basically squad players.

The parachute payments are to help with the difference between PL and Championship levels of TV revenue. These parachute payments should be used on wages as far as I'm concerned. I would reckon our wage bill is currently higher than it was last season.

I think it's you :p

Of course its me, I di it it the snooker room with the lead pipe!!!

If it's true, he seems to be challenging McCabe and there will only be one winner in that. (apart from he compensation that is)

istead of leaving, maybe he's trying to get himself sacked.

Like Steve said there would be nice compo for him.

I know this is going way off topic, but..........

George Graham got sack by Spurs a few years since, because he publicly stated he didn't have money to spend, ENIC said they were to sack him without recompense. I just wondered if Graham ever won his battle for compensation?

If not, can we not see very close similarities?

It does seem very very strange. McCabe is saying stick with it and we will turn a corner, yet robson is slating him for not letting up any money to change it.

With the transfer dealings pre season we should be in profit and able to spend. But we need a better midfield, and the only way to do it is buy. Warnock couldn't motivate the midfield so robson really has no hope, he needs new players.

Now McCabe is sensible, i doubt he's going to throw money at a downing ship. The meeting in Brussels is strange too, why would he call him over there to reassure him of his faith in him when he could do it in a phone call. Personally i think he's been discussing his future giving him a few games to change it.
