Does it not actually feel like a win tonight? Coutts is (in my opinion) our most important player. He vast majority of our good work goes through him or Fleck at some point. Now it looks like he's done for a good while... what next?

Is Lundstram ready?
Can Carruthers play the role?
Do we try Fleck there & bring Brooks into Flecks spot?

I'm actually gutted after a blades win...

Get well soon Paul lad!

P.S. Fuck you football gods!!

Feel the same mate, just said it on the Coutts thread.

Lundstram or Carruthers - that's the choice.

Time for Carruthers to step up for me - direct type of replacement for Coutts - or as near as it can be with present personnel.

If it's Lundtram then we need to alter how we play - it's a big call for CW & AK.

UTB

Bitter sweet in some ways but I am still chuffed by yet another win.
It's football and unfortunately bad injuries happen. We will miss him no doubt but Lundstram is looking better all the time and Carruthers is a classy player, we might even see an impressive Whiteman back soon. January isn't far off as well.

I’m gutted.
It’s difficult to celebrate a great away win with a major injury to a key player like Coutts.
Was gonna start a thread about our Billy but my enthusiasm has been curtailed.
Top of the league and yet tinged with sadness.......wtf.
UTB.

We will find a way through I'm sure, but whether we will see Coutts again on the pitch I'm less convinced about.

The poor, poor fucker. Playing the best football of his career and its all put in jeopardy playing in a shitty little stadium against a shitty little team in a match where he could have easily been rested.

Tyler Durden , I really don't think you meant it to come out like that.

Benefit of the doubt from me based on your previous sentiments, but that is a pretty shitty post in anyone's book.

I didn't mean it like anything.

We've gone top of the league, we've also lost a key player. I trust Wilder and the team to keep us winning despite the setback.

Nothing else implied.

To be fair, that's how I see it. I'm absolutely gutted for Coutts but we can't neglect the fact that we're top of the league and 5 points clear of 3rd. Tonight was a great win for strengthening our promotion push. Coutts has played an enormous role in our success but he wouldn't want his injury to affect our season and will be cheering us on our way to victory in future games. It is important that we continue to push on for him. Just hope we can see him back in a Blades shirt ASAP.

Fair enough.

One man's clumsy language is another's Shakespearean prose.

Still think it was a bit iffy though...

UTB of course

Well, you've probably noticed by now that I don't do subtlety very often.

Rest assured, I feel awful for Coutts like anyone would. I just have faith in our personnel.

I'm really not trying to say anything else and I'm sorry if that's how it came across.

Coutts had become the figurehead for our form this year along with Brooks. It hurts to lose him and fingers crossed he gets back to full fitness eventually. But it'll force someone to step up and we'll see how well the rest of the team can fill the gaps. I don' think we should expect one man to replace it all. The back 3 will have to bring the ball out more and Fleck will have to stay a little deeper. We'll get there but it might be a bit sloppy for a few games

We're not in a relegation scrap are we!!
We've players to step up to the plate in lundstram or carruthers.
The worst we can do is start to play deep and counter.
The holding role must go to fleck with Duffy and Brooks and lundstram in the diamond.
Still plenty of quality in there.
January we have to splash some now.
Leonard anyone???

I'm gutted for him. I'm really hoping for the best case scenario, as I'm sure we all are.

But, to the football and the task we face. The game against Ipswich was more or less business as usual. We dominated possession, and we created lots of chances. Lundstram was as solid as anyone.

We've lost one of the best footballers in our squad, but the way we play means that losing one key player will never be the end of the world. We have options and creativity everywhere, and numerous goalscorers.

We will continue to be strong.

Chuffed to bits with the win. Best wishes for a quick recovery for Mr Coutts. The squad is stronger with him than with out him.

It's an odd night mate so equally I'm sorry if I seem a bit sensitive.

Pretty much everyone on here is a long time Blade and we all ultimately want the same for this wonderful club.

For me it feels like the worst day for the club since the last home match of Adkins tenure.

I have every confidence that Wilder/Knill will turn someone into a Coutts type player. The same way they did Coutts himself.
That said I really fear for Coutts himself. A break so low, close to the ankle, if that is what it is, is often very hard to fully recover from. Something similar did for me. Could never 100% trust that leg again. However, medicine and sports science have moved on greatly since the black and white days. I have my fingers crossed for a player who has been a joy to watch.

As gutted as I am, Firstly for Coutts and then for how integral he has been to the way we play.

However, I want to see that we have a strong enough group to take the set back and deal with it by continuing to impress.

I think most Blades have the main concern of how we adapt but, as others have pointed out, this group impress at every opportunity.
