With the Ipswich game fast approaching. We currently have an issue with the right wingback position. Freeman is out for a period with broken ribs (as confirmed on twitter by himself) and Baldock out for 2-3 weeks (as of last week).

Our formation has been the key reason why we have been able to pick up so many points this season as most Championship teams struggle do deal with the overload of the fullback position with overlaps.

Would you change to a 4-4-2 for the match or stick with the 3-5-2?

Personally id move Lafferty to RWB, however he has been away with Northern Ireland, so preparation will be hindered with him only joining back with the blades tomorrow possibly. Although he is a professional footballer, it is the positioning which can cause players issues when switching defense roles (im a fullback myself)

The other option is to move Bash to RWB, but his presence in the middle of the park has been great, and with Coutts out this weekend, this causes another headache for Wilder.

My team for the weekend would be:

---------------------Blackman--------------------------
--Stevens--CCV--Wright--O'Connell--Lafferty--
------------------Bash--Fleck--------------------------
----------------------Duffy-------------------------------
----------------Brooks--Clarke------------------------

Stick with the formation and just be very cautious with the RWB side of the pitch and make sure there is always cover.

Its extremely frustrating to have both RWB out injured, especially as Baldock was looking so good. Does anyone who watches the u21's know of anyone who could fit in on the bench or is anyone ready for the step up to the first team??

i think personally no real choice but to play bash at rb, stevens has been too good to move out of position, id go for

---------------------------Blackman-----------------------------------

Basham--------CCV---------Wright------------JOC------------Stevens

-------------------------Lundstram-----Fleck----------------------------------

-----------------------------------Duffy--------------------------------------------

------------------------Sharp-----------Clarke------------------------

Be very surprised if this wasn’t exactly it.

So you want Lafferty in RWB role, but you've put Stevens there??

Bash to RWB and leave it as 3-4-1-2 which is our more usual formation.

Also, does Lundstrum come in for Coutts or could it be Sami (as per P'boro away last season)

Bash has done it before and can do it again. CW doesn't do square pegs in round holes - ie: left footer on the right side.

CCV to remain in the defence.

Bash was excellent at RWB vs Port Vale towards the end of last season. Set up two goals i think.

Jake Bennett played there in a cup game v Walsall and apparently did OK. Not sure whether Tufty will be minded to go for that or put Bash there with Lundstram in Coutts’ position.

I suspect the latter myself. Don't think he'll move Lafferty or Stevens there. He seems to feel strongly about players playing on the side of their preferred foot.

I think Sami is more like cover for Duffy/Brooks, with Lundstram being the cover for Coutts/Fleck, in as much as he is a solid unit who can put a tackle in, whereas I see Carruthers more as the roving maverick behind the strikers.

I can see Stearman coming back in and Carter Vickers moving across to RWB. Young Benno could well get a place on the bench, be interesting to see how we cope without Coutts picking it up deep and starting the play off as I don’t know who else can play that role

With 3-5-2, Wing Backs are your only natural width, so you have to play Bash as the right footer. You would have to imagine Lundstram would come in for Coutts, thats what he has been signed for. I would imagine Samir, is more likely to cover for Fleck.

I think that would be very harsh on Wright tbh and totally against Wilder's philosophy of play well and keep the shirt. TBH - I'm wondering what all the fuss is about with Stearman? I was really pleased when we signed him because I remember him being a top professional centre back for Wolves. But he's not done anything to impress me so far and he's been injured for most of the time he's been here! I'll look forward to him changing my mind maybe?

The tactics board on the deadline day video seemed to indicate that Bash and JOC were additional cover for the wingback positions, so I would expect to see Bash there if Baldock and Freeman are both unavailable.

The added complication of course is Coutts’ absence as some may prefer Bash as cover there too. Lundstram scored last time out, has been improving and was signed to cover that position, so time to put some faith in the lad I think. No Coutts also means we should bring the captain back in. Duffy will be able to help out deeper if needed and Brooks has done a lot of travelling this week.

Blackman
CCV Wright JOC
Bash Lundstram Fleck Stevens
Duffy
Sharp Clarke
