Is the deal done? I see reports it's signed and sealed so the only thing that can go wrong now is finding out it's Charles Green?

No doubt the new investor will own a Syrian chemicals plant, I'm not going to get too excited over this bit of news afterall Jacob Essan was going to bring in significant investment and we are still waiting. Mind you the new investors will be putting in 50/50 with McCabe and 50% of fuck all is still fuck all, having said that things have to change some day if only to make one of Blade Too Long's ultra positive crackpot theories come true.

its not Cuvelier , Maguires bought a Cavalier , a 1984 vauxhall

I have crackpot theories , not me accusing MCcABE of nicking stuff he already owned
I had no theories , just hoped wed get some fresh investment one day , it may be happening , but I will wait , as I have done for 5 years since MCCabe announced he wanted out until its verified before getting giddy .

All of this sounds a bit too good to be true to me.

Rather than getting carried away and speculating on how long it will take us to get back to the PL, I will adopt the attitude of that I will believe it when I see it.

I've been a Blade far too long to get overly carried away

I think its hilarious that the Pigs are going mental over this on Porktalk.

I hope we ge some serious investment then smash them on our way past them back to the Prem

I hope we get a moderate level of investment, create a sustainable future for our club, bring in players that want to play effective, entertaining and exciting football at low cost for fans allowing the lane to be packed week on week, THEN smash them on our way past them back to the upper end of the Championship.... As the PL implodes and a European super league is created, we then settle into the rebranded top division of English football known as the First Division.

Agreed that would be lovely... However im sure we would all just settle for promotion back to the Champ to begin with!

This is definitely good for us.

Take Higginbotham for example. We obviously gave him a short deal as we thought Maguire would leave in this transfer window. Once this investment was signed and sealed we no longer had to sel Maguire and so released Higginbotham.

People need to stop being so cynical and look at things with a positive view

One thing I'm curious about in the context of the investment is the K-Mac transfer. Being as this has been ongoing since January and you would feel highly likely for a couple of months, does the K-Mac transfer mean:
a) that we 'sensible' in our offer to him, or
b) that the investment isn't quite as much as we're getting excited about.

I suppose it could have come down to Wolves having bundles of cash with their parachute payments, but still, it's surprising that we don't go all out to keep him given his impact on the first team.

Wolves triggered a release clause in his contract so it was out of our hands. David Weir did say he was speaking to the player to try and make him stay.

McDonald has since come out stating he left for "footballing reasons".

Well obviously I know about the clause, I didn't mean that.

Footballing reasons I'm sure played into it, but I've no doubt that monetary reasons also played a part.

Regardless, this news of investment will have been buzzing around the club and players, so given the factors of:
1) a larger contract
2) investment in the team and a better chance of promotion
3) a first team place guaranteed
4) a settled home, and
5) a playing style that he must enjoy
I would have thought that we were the better bet for him for the moment.

I personally think it comes down to that contract.

But a Syrian chemicals plant....

McDonald is gone. Move on were better now without him than we were with him.
Jose Baxter baby, Jose Baxter oh oh

Woah, slow down.

I'm hardly gazing wistfully into the past dreaming of McDonald with nob in hand.

Just wondering what it tells us about the investment and plans for the first team.

That said, I'd still prefer a team with McDonald AND Baxter.

Just like the investment negotiation was around for awhile, so was his desire to leave. The only reason he signed that contract was the release clause. When Wolves came in he was offered improved terms, but we still have to operate by a wage structure and Wolves offered far more. Actually, it has worked out brilliantly. Baxter for McDonald is a serious improvement.

Perhaps when Weir spoke with KMac he said "the club has an investor so I'm bringing in Jose Baxter, that means you need to shape up or you're dropped"

So why wait until Kmac goes before bringing him in, why not have both instead of loanees like Coady?
