Compared to the money coming in from transfers we have spent nowt, nothing, not a bean. £2m in on my estimation (thats in fees and not counting wages) and £350k spent on Nosworthy.
Simmo and Britton were freebies and I am guessing that wages wise they were cash neutral to the Billy and Paddy leaving along with the host of freebies that shuffled away start of season. Imagine how much we saved with Naysmiths wages alone.
Cash in the bank is far greater once more than cash into the first team. I don't want big name signings, I would just like to see some form of evolution and progression for the first time since we got promoted to the Premiership. The golden opportunity went up in smoke the day we got relegated and while we spent big on BT and his kind we reverted to old United again as soon as KM's arsehole started twitching like a rabbits nose that season and he binned Robson off. Big pay off for Robson (who KM employed), he got CAC in who he sacked less than 5 games into a new season. No one see where the problem has been lying here? Our chairman is the last man on Gods Green Earth who should be hiring managers.
Its not important how much we spend, its what we spend it on. Right now we have the slowest front line since Tortoise United won the cup back in 1243. Thats not a front 2 that will get you goals, Cresswell on the wing isn't going to pull any trees up and the only winger we have is a forward played out of position (Ward) with frayed string for legs. We have a workmanlike midfield (although I think LB will be a star for us) and a defence that can't make its mind up whether it is tight as a nuns (Derby) or flapping around like a clowns pocket (QPR, Scunthorpe).
Keepers prone to the odd one as well although I think he was a good signing. In short, we must do better to go anywhere. Oh and our start to the season hasn't exactly been tough has it? Be warned, trouble ahead unless we sign some decent players.
