Beating Liverpool in the league cup with a cracker from Gary Hampson?
Very sad news, RIP Steve.
Valiant effort in the season he took over, the amazing games vs Coventry and came close against an excellent Sunderland side in the playoffs.
I'm not sure if Hutchison was far right but I know he's a little annoyed about the lack of government action on small boat migrant crossingsDon Hutchison far right. If we’d have kept that side together, who knows? Thanks for the memories Steve, that Coventry quarter final stays long in my memory.

Loved watching Don Hutchison, my favourite Midfielder whilst watching The Blades. Superb passer, great reader of the game, cool under pressure. Just seemed to have time on the ball, a skill a hell of a lot harder than it looks, Gordon Cowens, Stuart McCall, Gary Speed the same.Don was a great player for us, had flair and skill.
Also looks like superstar striker Ian Rush on the right hand side of that pic.
I recognise that big nose anywhere but he was a total failure here.

I thought the Southend fighting was the game in October 95, towards the end of the Bassett days?Really sad news. Was part of the 1988-89 squad that got promotion from Division Three (the first season that I really followed as a proper fan). I remember him scoring a dreadful own goal away at Southend (a game where our fans were moaning and fighting amongst themselves, despite us thinking that this is a new phenomenon). But he did his bit to get us promoted in one of my favourite ever teams.
He was brilliant value in interviews, particularly when he was caretaker manager. Always seemed like a man who truly appreciated being involved as a football man.
RIP, Tommo.

Tommo scored at Northampton, in a vital win, just as the Hillsborough disaster was unfolding. Always remember telling my dad, and the radio on in the background, as the horrors of the day became real.
Great man.
