Doubt that.

Snakes and ladders has a ladder climbing up from square one to square 38, not a snake leading down to it.
Yours might have…but not every game is the same.

Hopscotch is another possibility, of course.

Does anyone remember the story of the Batman Begins one? I'm certain someone on here talked about being in props / costumes and sneaking stuff into movies. Then again I might have just completely made that up.
Yes Jim, I remember that, it was interesting at the time and the poster said he did lots of props and was looking at sneaking stuff into future projects. I seem to remember him saying he’d done it before but remember being fascinated by it at the time.

Knew most of them, but the one about fielding a full XI of full England internationals is new to me.

Always nice to see other fans appreciate the enormous amount of history at our club :)

EDIT: I knew the origins of "back to square one" were related to radio football commentary, but never knew that we were involved in the first match to use it!

I am afraid that back to square one thing is an urban myth that everyone thinks is correct but isn’t, it dates back to Victorian / Edwardian times and the popularity of parlour board games.

If you think about it it doesn’t make sense for the football pitch as you can see below square one wasn’t the penalty area and even if it was it would only apply to the team kicking from right to left..

Can quite honestly say I couldn’t care less whether it’s true or not, I thought I was just passing on some interesting research done by a Bristol City fan.

I also didn’t realise there were different versions of snakes and ladders. I did a quick google and every one had the ladder climbing out of square one, not a snake slipping back into it.

Still, I bow to your superior knowledge.

I've said this before somewhere on another thread but Flea is not a Blades supporter as such. The connection has been made because he played 'The Greasy Chip Butty' song at a gig (or several). The reason for that is because he is mates with Antony Genn of The Hours and formerly of Pulp and Genn IS a Blade who told Flea about the song, and he played it for Genn.
Flea:

"My team is Sheffield United. The Blades man, go Blades!" 😁

I believe we still hold the title " Champions of Britain "

And always will be as far as I'm concerned, irrespective of any football results at any given time. The Blades are the champions and the best. I know this as fact as my Dad told me this incessantly when I was knee high to a grasshopper, and I have in turn passed on this fact to all of my kids.

Again, I think this stems from his friendship with Genn. If you search for Antony Genn on YouTube, you'll find an interview with him about doing the music for Peaky Blinders (mates with Cillian Murphy too) and he gives a shout out to the Blades. He was in my class at school and was a really good footballer himself.

Happy to claim Flea though!
Ants was a very good friend of mine ,I went out with his sister for a few years. He was actually a very good player himself until he chucked himself off Arundel gate.
His whole family are Blades ,his uncle John who many will know on here I suspect died recently.

Did anyone see Veron on the Kop yesterday?

Palin actually supports the Massive but other than that some great facts, some of which I wasn't aware of.

This seems to suggest he’s more of a United fan than a Wednesday fan but that he’s fond of both

I was in his class at school. I made him a Beatles tape cassette (ha, remember that!) of stuff from the later albums that he'd never heard before, just as he was starting to play guitar, and then I met up with him some years ago when The Hours played The Leadmill and he was telling all his band mates that I 'gave him' The Beatles. I kept in touch via Facebook messenger for a while and apparently he recounted this story to Damien Hirst in a car while driving to a party hosted by P Diddy..... bizarre!

Anyway he told me he had got Flea into the Blades and to play the GCBS so that's the connection.

I can't remember his sisters name but remember his brother Steve.

I went out with Joanne ,Steve was mad ,really good musician though and had a really good band called Mr morality. They got their ability from their Dad who was a top jazz drummer

Shane Meadows's "The Virtues" had a Blade. Stephen Graham's characters son supports the Blades. The son's bedroom was full of Blades stuff. Part of this drama was shot in Sheffield.

Steve was a good mate of mine untill I dropped out, Jo worked with my wife for many years at the body shop and Ants used to sleep on our sofa.

Didn’t Bramall Lane host the first ever night match, under floodlights? Maybe involving a baseball game?

Might be me getting confused with something completely different, but seem to remember reading something about the Lane and floodlights.

Flea does on occasion tweet support for us though. I think he probably barely spares us a thought, but occasionally sees a result and is pleased if we've won, much like many other "celebrity" fans (especially american ones).

I'm going to continue to claim him as a Blade though cos I fucking love RHCP and he's a phenomenal bass player.
I thought it stemmed from him being told about the Battle of Bramall Lane and being impressed by our "battling" qualities? 😁

In 1977 Sheffield United are referenced by Brian Blessed’s character in a third series episode of the BBC post-apocalyptic drama series Survivors from the 1970s. Blessed's character also wears a SheffieldUnited scarf throughout.

I think you're thinking of Kingston Blade, who works on lots of films and tries to get a cryptic reference to the Blades in them all. He was trying to get one into the last Hellboy, but didn't hear if he did or not, but he did get the one below into the last Death Wish film in about 2018.

I remember watching a programme in geography, 94 ish where he went round the Pacific rim. He said he supports united but looks out for wednesday and watches them also

Another "Top fact" especially for the Harrogate/North Yorkshire Blades out there. In 1991 the first game played at Harrogate Railway (the smaller of the 2 Harrogate teams in terms of regular attendance and league position) under floodlights was a friendly match against the red and white wizards.
