Really suprising how bad/lengthy Doyle's injury has become
Also some players come back a lot quicker from injury ie JLT/Osborn seem to have rushed back (as they are 'our' players?) but Ciaran Clark seems to have to have a full MRI scan just to run down the South Stand touchline as a non appearing sub (maybe because we are a lot more careful with other teams players?)
It’s not remotely surprising. It’s standard Heckingbottom operating procedure.

Say he just missed out, then he’s 50-50 for the next game, and then it’s a month minimum before you know it.

I perhaps have a partial explanation for all the injury problems. Everybody may already know about what I am going to say so my apologies if this is the case.

Last Sunday, I was in the Memorial room at City Hall watching Jason Byrne (comedian). A guy walked in late and whilst he was making his way to the balcony the comedian asked his group of friends (work colleagues I think they said) who had come in just before him his name; Alan I think it was. As is always the case, he was then picked on throughout the evening. He asked him his occupation and he was unwilling to say (just syaing back to the comedian "what is my occupation?!") but eventually the comedian got out of him that he was a doctor. He then further winkled out of him that he wasn't a GP but a doctor for a football club. When asked which one he said Middlesborough.

I take it from this that Wilder took the medical team with him to Boro when he left (given that his friends I think said that they were work colleagues), and it seems that Hecky has not managed to replace them with equal quality medical staff. Could this be the reason for our injury problems since Wilder left?

I will leave it there. That is all I know. I expect that this has been raised before. Apologies if it has.

So based on something you partially heard at a comedy gig you've concluded that our current club doctor isn't as good as an old one because Wilder took the good one with him to Middlesbrough, which may or may not have actually happend?

There's some absolute nonsense posted on here 🤦‍♂️😂

I’ve concluded that our current medical team isn’t perhaps as good as the old one because our injury list is horrifically bad since wilder left. And it does seem to have happened thatWilder took the club doctor to Boro. Seems a logical conclusion to me. Weird that the Middlesbrough club doctor was at a comedy gig in Sheffield. otherwise!

Unlike you, the explanation of “bad luck” doesn’t cut it for me. I am suggesting one POSSIBLE reason we’ve got such injury problems. And yes, it’s only a POSSIBLE reason

You've absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I'll help you out a little, here's one of our current club doctors to help you get started on your research... (https://www.linkedin.com/in/subhashis-basu-453bb462).

Notice he's also attended the university of Manchester, so by your logic we should assume he must have worked for Man utd/City because he couldn't possibly be in Manchester for any other reason!

If you'd made the point that Matt Prestridge went to Middlesbrough with Wilder you'd have at least some credibility.

Some of us just prefer to look at things based on facts not things we partially overheard someone say at a gig one time 😂

Needs a bit of work on the punchline.

Maybe it has something to do with the pitches at training ground and the new ones will be ready after world cup.

Asaba keeps going on about how he thinks it's something to do with the supplements we're giving players, they have all sorts of (legal) performance enhancing supplements and foods, bash was saying something about pickle juice during the second half to fight fatigue.

You can't discount the world cup effect either, the season started early, not much recovery time during summer and loadsa games crammed in so far, I doubt the players really recovered from the disruption of COVID either. There are lots of other clubs in similar positions to us, we are by no means unique.

Also there's obviously been disruption at the training ground building new pitches, we'll have been playing on a surface that isn't up to scratch every day except for match day all season. Hopefully this is resolved now.

There's an element of bad luck I guess to have so many, but I think there are a few things at play and it's ended up being the perfect storm. But dem blades have rode that storm like Robby Krieger and his Gibson SG. Top of the league, going into international break 2nd and loads of players back to take on the second half of the season in front of an empty Kop. Good times.

The word cup is a big factor. Lots of teams are struggling with injuries. Not just us. 3 games a week in a side which likes to press and lacked fit players in several positions most of the season in order to rest players.

We play a high intensity game. More than most teams in this league. We train the same way. We're going to get more injuries than teams who don't press or play with a lower tempo.

And given the players we have, not many you'd describe as natural athletes. So they're not naturally designed for this type of football.

We can lower the intensity in training, but we wouldn't be top of the league if we did.

PH on Jack Robinson

Looks like hamstring.

What did he do?

You could see him stretching just before. He sprinted back and was stretching a little bit.
It's fatigue, we know it. Needs must, he was thrown in before he was 100% fit.
Hopefully with these four weeks coming we'll have him back with plenty others.

Three or four players now have done hamstrings early in a game, do you need to look at conditioning and pre-match prep?

Robbo's will be fatigue. He's gone from zero, missing in pre-season to being thrown in and playing 90s, 90s. He's had to play.
We had the same with Rhys and Lowey, they were the only left-siders available and had to play every game. They have got injured. That's not a coincidence either.
We've been walking that tightrope.

PH on Anel, McBurnie and Fleck?

Anel's illness is going to keep him out a while. Oli Mac has had the scan and it's an ankle ligament injury.
Flecky, probably as good a news as we could have hoped. He's had the scan, his bone is healing but he's had a direct whack on it and it's too painful. He's tried to play, we wanted him on the bench, but in the end if we can't use him, what's the point?

Wonder if Anel has got glandular fever if he's going to be out a while

When you think the season is now shut down for 1 month.

So the fact that Hecky has mentioned Ahmedhodzic being ill and out for a while, suggests he might not be fit for when we return after the World Cup.
So his illness must be something quite serious, otherwise why even mention it.

Yeah it doesn't read well from the transcript today and he didn't sound too optimistic in the pre match presser.

Maybe he's got Covid or something like that. Could be out for over a week. Fact they kept him away suggests it was something contagious.

McBurnie will be rested anyway this next month with the Op. Hopefully it will all be fine by then.

We might as well forget having any promotional aspirations with bastard luck like this - it’s miraculous that we’re currently where we are really.

Don’t Bosnia have some friendlies planned? Might be convenient for him to miss them.

It's not injuries we should worry about now , but the prospect of the players having 4 weeks on the piss whilst watching the WC.
The 2 squads which get auto promotion will be the ones who best manage this 4-week break and make some crucial acquisitions in January.
I hope the club has dangled an enormous promotion bonus in front of our lot.
And can strengthen our weakest position(s) in January.
Top of the league tonight despite loads of injuries + a run of very poor form in the last 11 games.
Success is entirely within our reach if we start again on 10 Dec in the form we had in the first 10 games.
But we can't go into next year with only 2 fit strikers , which is all we may have in December.

Bizarre Olly Mac doing the press and saying he would be ok for today!
Hecky is working miracles to keep us up there, he is a liar, and cant be trusted when speaking about injuries, but results wise, brilliant
