Injuries-Get Jebbo Back

It's either Jebbo or we gamble on bringing Osula through, which he probably isn't ready for - not even had the obligatory loan out to a non-league side yet.

Makes perfect sense to bring him back now.

What about Hackford as an option from the bench?

Not seen anyone mention him for a while apart from mentioning he scored for Alfreton.

Is Osula a better prospect?

People wanna rush him back and halt his development, leave him for the season he's learning from one of the best in Jimmy Flloyd part of me wishes hecky didn't play him last season then maybe he could've gone on loan without all this expectation on him.
How is sticking him up front for a play off chasing side in the Championship halting his development?

I'd say leave him there if we had Brewster fit and Moose wasn't being sold.

I doubt we have money to buy anyone new unless someone buys McBurnie off us.

Believe he's just had an operation.

Plus, from what I've seen at least, Osula is a better prospect but hard to judge given the standard of opposition they're generally up against. Both need proper loan moves somewhere.

However well Sharp plays and even if McGoldrick gets some confidence back. That bit of extra pace and the additional width it can give us, makes such a difference. As a squad we have enough forward options. But if we are serious about a play off push and Brewster is out, this sort of player could make a big difference

100% where I was, but with Brewster and MGW injured, Moose and Burke gone, we have no pace whatsoever. I'd say we need him back now, especially with him coming into a winning side and he's confident and scoring.

I'd be interested to know how Bogle did further forward for Derby though. He played further up the wing for them as much as at full back didn't he?? As others have said, it'd be interesting to see how he'd go in a front 3.

Think he was predominantly a right back, I never saw him line up in a front 3 personally for them and they were on the telly a lot while Lampard was there

Jebbison isn't a like for like for Brewster....lys is far more alike....
That's right, Jebbison scores goals. Only club I know has 2 years in prem and 1st choice strikers are from 2019 when they were on their last legs then. Sometimes I think the blunts is quite an apt nickname when I read stuff like this.

As for Lys, should have been sacked after the car crash. Club should set an exampe.

Ayari scores goals..Osula too….should we stick them up front?
He’s doing well for Burton, learning in a league lower, scoring occasionally…..hardly a guaranteed regular scorer for us is he!
And aside from that, there’s got to be the rest of his game too….in other words the game play, the tricks of the trade, strength, nous, decision making….all a huge part of being ready for us where we are now.
That’s the point of his current loan.

Bring him back and he will just spend most of his time on the bench, with expectations upon him until Brewster gets fit or McB suddenly returns to some kind of player. Bringing him back could end up delaying his development.

How do you know if we bring him back he’ll spend most of his time on the bench? That’s as much conjecture as the points other people are making that you’re trying to argue about.

I don’t think we have much choice at this point. Hecky has said Mcburnie was hit by covid like a tonne of bricks so how long until he’s recovered enough to do 90 minutes a month maybe more? Hackford is injured and Osula hasn’t kicked a ball in anger in men’s football so the academy lads won’t be stepping up to start at championship level this year. As it stands we only have Billy and Didzy capable of starting that’s untenable for a club that’s going to have to be playing twice a week.

Take Jebbison back and give them Ayari, who’s got good pedigree and done well at U23’s to this level. Carry the cost of his wages as an apology. No one loses in that scenario, Burton have nothing to play for now.

You do realise styles of play matters right? No point playing a Leon Britton type if we are a long ball side etc. Brewster and jebbison aren't the same style... Not saying it won't work but it's a gamble.

Because he hasnt shown enough at Burton to displace McBurnie, McGoldrick from the bench.

Aye, no not in a front 3 for them mate but I think he played a few further advanced on the wing. Very different position though- I remember folk saying they'd like to see Roger Nilsen play further forward, then seeing him do it for 45 minutes quickly changing their minds

No, so I don’t know he’s going to play for us regularly. Just as much as you don’t know if he will. So why say what you’ve just said?
He is playing in L1, with zero pressure or expectation, other than what he puts on himself, and what comes from JFH his manager, he has scored 8 goals, not 18 not 28, he hasn't been getting rave reviews week in week out, because if he had, with McB, Mousse,Burke on the books, he would have been brought back on the minute the January window opened

It’s simple maths.

10 days ago, we had 6 forwards on the books.

As of today, one has gone out on loan, one is injured for a few weeks minimum, and reports suggest one will be sold.

That leaves 3: a 35 year old who has played every game this season, a 34 year old who can’t hit a barn door, and a major disappointment who hasn’t scored in a year and has few recent minutes due to Covid and injury.

That strikes me as an undesirable situation.

We need cover. We have a lad who has scored a number of goals in the league below. Given the numbers we have now, the prudent thing to do, surely, is to get him back.

Don’t know for fact but I’d be surprised if we weren’t paying Jebbisons wages too

I've watched Burton's last two games because I wanted to get a look at Jebbison. In fairness he was pretty quiet in both. He's playing as the lone striker in a long ball team and cuts an isolated figure at times. He's asked to do a lot of harrying of defenders and he's more than willing to chase lost causes. In their match against Lincoln he almost forced their keeper into a blunder early on. The kid never stops running and looks to have a good engine on him. He's quick, strong, and has a decent touch. He's good in the air and will give as good as he gets in aerial battles against CBs with a big weight and experience advantage on him. He put in one lovely cross against MK Dons. In terms of his physique, gait, and style of play he's eerily similar to my childhood hero Brian Deane. I'm not claiming he's that good or ever will be, of course.

He's scored 9 in all competitions now, which means he's on course for a very good first season playing men's football. At the same age and stage in his career, Harry Kane went on loan to Leyton Orient and scored 5 in 18. Troy Parrot is currently on loan from Spurs at MK--he's a year older than Jebbo and got 2 in 18 at Ipswich last season and 3 in 15 so far this. So I feel comfortable saying that Jebbison is showing exceptional promise for a lad his age.

I was coming round to the idea that we should bring him back even before the injury to Brewster--now I think it's even more urgent. There's no guarantee he will do much for us, I get that. He's still very raw. But we need the cover he can provide and this might be the only chance we get to see him play for us at all.

We’ll not be paying them in full, the whole reason Jebbison didn’t go out on loan immediately (and didn’t eventually go to Sunderland after going to the SoL) is because we were charging a stonking loan fee + wages paid. I assume we regened on that but not by much.

Right, so you haven’t read Roy’s View From at all then? Their fans love him.

He’s got 9 goals in his first season in mens football, for a bang average at best side. It’s very very respectable. Impressive infact.

We have 3 fit strikers on the books. 2 of which are mid thirties, one who’s completely out of form and recovering from covid. None have any pace, Jebbison has buckets of it.

What aren’t you getting here?
