You honestly couldn’t blame him for kicking off if he just ends up with Davies. A player we wouldn’t even have desperately needed if we’d not totally fluffed our recruiting and spend about 50p on centreback since Egan.

they all must know he needs bodies to play the way he wants to.

Davies wouldn’t have even been HIS signing. Yeah he will have wanted davies but he would have been suggested to SJ as we basically chased davies for a year

It’s so infuriating seeing west brom doing so well and still making top class signings. We’re doing shit and there seems to be no urgency. I’m starting to think this is on the recruitment team and steven bettis not the owner. Owner will have set the budget, updated when rammers was sold but the recruitment team are to passive and bone idle

Heard this, no idea on reliability - but sounds believable

Geurdioura and Longstaff expected before Luton
Elanga/another Winger (apparently name not picked up in press) & Olsen expected after the weekend, theres a free transfer as back up in case Olsen gets a last minute and better offer
Re-emergence of N'Diyae means 2nd Winger may get put on hold

👀

I reckon there’s a lot of projection happening when reading into Slavs mood and comments.
“I get the impression he’ll be walking”. From what exactly? I think you mean you’re frustrated at the lack of signings so you’re adding a narrative.

Why would he be desperate for them in before Luton? They aren’t going to play? So why would he lose his shit over a few days?

He might like a long walk around the Peak District.

So who’s going out then…
Need to balance the squad don’t we…???

Hope there’s somat in that lot

Report from unreliable HITC that Longstaff is off to Forest or West Brom and was it Olsen that said he didn’t fancy coming here?

Shame though that every player linked is a loan

Some people are not going to make prem squad 25s so someone on the edge of a squad will just miss out and become available. Rather than those who have already been shipped out like Chong for example.

Can’t wait for the word ‘COVID’ to be used as to why we haven’t made many signings. I know it’s affected us but it has everyone else also, it’s simply not good enough being 4 games in and still nothing other than Davies.

This doesn't sound too far fetched.

The first two are hardly bums on seats signings, are they but I suppose they add depth to an area we have few selection options when we play a 3. At least with Geurdioura being a free it means we have plenty of loan slots for a keeper, second midfielder and two wingers if needs be.

I appreciate we probably want a winger or two and some new blood but it's not as if Freeman and N'Diaye are tarnished by last season. The former will be one of those most suited to either 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3 or even 4-3-3 on the left of the latter two formations.

I don't know N'Diaye's ability to play a in a more wide capacity but he had a good season last year in the U23s. I don't see him as being dragged into the first team shambles. So that's 2 'new blood' folks. Davies and Norrington-Davies were both not associated with our first team last year either. So you are edging towards half the team already having a fresh outlook, especially if a new goalie arrives.

It's just now about holding your nerve. We might not be Olsen's number one choice but it's quite late for many clubs to be holding open their first choice slot. Rumours Everton might be in for him again but that's a bench warming and cup games job. Far from ideal for his country's number one.

Same with the winger. It serves no benefit to his development for Diallo to not play regularly. It seems Palace's interest is lukewarm at best. So if no PL team is offering him regular games then where does he pick them up? Maybe he secures a loan move back to Atalanta. But how does this help Man U? They want to see him perform against English teams I'd expect.

It's just a game of chance now. Do you go early and get Elanga? Or do you wait and hang in for Diallo, risking missing both him and Elanga?

Both Elanga and Olsen are Swedish so might not hurt their ability to settle, arriving at the same time.

Come on people… you can see it a mile off! We are being taken for a ride… building a United world ‘brand’ and syphining money off Sheffield United FC… two transfer windows and only a solitary loan signing says it all… no investment in the club infrastructure says it all.

Within 2 years (1 if we are not careful) we will be back where we started with nothing to show for our day in the sun… no legacy … nothing.

I hope beyond hope I am proven wrong.

up the blades.

In my deaths of football depression I might have started to think you were right. But then you think English footy is where the money is and why would prince splash on bringing SJ in when he could have stuck with Heckingbottom?

Took the words out of my mouth, or fingers as it were. If you owned a portfolio of football clubs around the world, you'd be a moron if you didn't do everything to make the English club the most successful and try to get them back at the top table. I also said on another thread that anyone asset stripping would just have given the job to Hecky, and saved 2m (rumoured for Slav alone) a year on wages.

I expect we'd also have taken Arsenal's earlier bid for Ramsdale, and probably already have sold Berge for a smaller fee than his release clause. In fact we'd probably never have bought the latter in the first place.

We didn't bring in anyone in the last window because Wilder shot his load in the previous one, somehow failing to address the problem we had by spending £50m+ on players that weren't a centre back and attacking midfielder.

Then, to further frustrate the fans and board didn't play any of the players he brought in and asked for more money after he steered us to the foot of the table.

So far this window we've only had 2 pre season games for Slav to look at the team. So he's had to use these early games to find his feet and assess what is needed. It's not ideal and like all other fans I wanted new blood by now. But if Slav doesn't know his best 11 or best formation then how the fuck do any of us know? Save the panicking and conspiracy theories for September.......if we don't bring anyone in! Until then, calm you tits.

Simple question. Do you think United will make a profit this year if we finish let’s say mid table?

The issue is a lot of our current players demonstrated they can play in the Prem so should still be good enough, and in one of the early interviews with Slav he said something silly like "this squad is better than the ones I had at Watford and Fulham" but after a few more weeks he's realised what we all knew and that it desperately needs improving, but will the board suddenly go "oh ok then here's a load of money" - probably not. We have however just sold our goalkeeper for a reported £24m, so from the outside looking in we know there's now a big pot of money that wasn't there before that we all want to see reinvested.

That "big pot of money" received for Ramsdale went 60% of the way to filling the big hole left by relegation. Our income in 19/20 was £130m. In 21/22 it'll be around half of that. Some is clawed back through relegation wage reduction clauses (say £25m) but we still need to find the rest.

‘Calm your tits’ - one of the most sexist comments ever made … but you do you that’s all anyone can expect from you.

That is indeed the outlier and the only shred of hope I am clinging to.
