The edge.
Good morning.
Here I sit in the works canteen drinking my first of many strong coffees this morning pondering over last night's effort and reading some of the utter, utter over reactive gash on here.
I for one was pissed off last night and would put it down as the worst 90 minutes with tufty at the helm.
But 12 hours after, and a few hours kip has mellowed the anger.
7th in the league and 15 points ahead of those relegation threatened bastards at s6.
I'm still appeh. Suck it up.
Utb.

There has been over reaction, to be expected when players play as badly as they did last night.

And they deserve a great deal of credit for having achieved the points total that will keep us in this division (and above the other lot snuffling about in the lower end).

But whether it was another blip, or a case of resting on their laurels, no player or manager is above reasonable criticism.

I think most of us are happy in general (with a few exceptions) but I'm far from happy with that "performance" last night. I've no intention of accepting that we Blades should be content with capitulating to teams as poor as Hull and "suck it up".

I understand that it is still work in progress and we are building for the future. But that was a fairly big cock-up in the work. Players let us and themselves down.

Wilder will do everything he can to sort it out, I'm uncertain whether some of the players have the same application.

It was a truly awful display but in the cold light of day, I can forgive a bad performance after 18 months of outstanding ones.

As someone says, we go again and see where it takes us. I'd have snapped your hand off given the option of being where we are now, at the start of the season. That's not to say that there won't be disappointment if we fail to make the playoffs

Will the players go again after that interview? Think it was a mistake by Wilder.

If they have got an ounce of professional pride they certainly will.....they owe it.....I get the point that Wilder picks the team but once they pass the white line it is down to them....we were out-fought last night, which doesn't happen very often, (Bolton did the same to us at home) and coupled with poor individual performances and mistakes it all added up to probably the worst display of Wilder tenure.

Any player that doesn't take collective responsibility for last night' display will find themselves out of the door.

By your logic, our manager is one of those having a hissy fit.
Far too many sticking up for Wilder. Praising him for telling the truth on TV / radio. Well I guarantee that some of them players won't agree. They will have own reasons for last night's failures. Coming out and pointing fingers at players who for 95% of games I've seen have given it all, isn't the best move he's made. The rot starts when the boss loses respect. Just hope he's got lots in reserve and the players are thick skinned.

Agree we were outfought last night.

if they don't they will be shown the door. the players cant revolt.. Wilder has all of the kudos not them.. players or Wilder? most people would keep Wilder

After sleeping on it I still stand by my thoughts from last night, I'm still angry that the team that has done so well in the 1st third of the season are now tossing away a fantastic opportunity to get into the play off's. Wilder's thoughts in his after match interviews are much the same as mine is he over reacting too ? I would add Wilder needs to take a long hard look at himself also, at the end of the day he picks the team.
We really have shot ourselves in the foot it seems to me since the players received improved contracts that they have lost desire and are settling for a comfy well paid life, add to that we have co owners who don't see eye to eye (where was the promised investment when we reach the championship) and you end up buying lower league players who if they can make the step up need time to do so. I don't know where we go from here the season is virtually over as far as a play off push is concerned, we need the ownership wrangles sorting out fast otherwise we go into next season with no direction and risk losing one of the best up coming managers in the country.

weve hardly tossed it away, we missed one opportunity to get back in the top 6
the others are losing games too, we are still 2 points off 6th
just needs the players to get back to pass and moving rather than the hoofing it aimlessly they did last night
Im pretty sure Chris hasnt told them in training lads dont pass it in game play just hoik it forward aimlessly

People are allowed to react and comment on an undoubted poor performance.

The reaction amongst fans probably tells you how good the players have been for a while that last night was seen as unacceptable.

Fans are allowed to be passionate and angry after a game just like our manager.

It was a poor performance and also a chance missed. We are still in the race for a play off place, overall this season I think there are still plenty of positives. It beats f@cking around in Leauge 1, and yes I will mention the fact we are Sheffield's number one.

I think it's more a case of the manager allowed to be angry just like the fans

Wilder was right to have a go at the players after that performance last night!. Wilder is not only our manager but he's also a fan like the rest of us!. It'll be interesting to see how the players react on Tuesday night. If I was a player, I would be hurting after last night and would be wanting to prove to wilder that it was just an off day!!!. Tuesday and the remaining games are an ideal time to make wilder eat his words. Some players are playing for their futures now?. UTB

In the cold light of day.

We were completely shit last night.

Need a few favours today off others and then what is now the biggest game of the season on Tuesday at Reading. (Weather permitting)

Lose on Tuesday and it is probably season over.

Unlike the rest of us, Wilder had the power to change something, but despite the midfield being unable to string one pass together and it being obvious that we needed to create a link to the strikers, he stuck with the same team at half time and only introduced Duffy long after we were losing and Hull kept more players back. Him having a go at the players is fine, but he has to take some responsibility for it too, not just have a pathetic strop that we're not going to make the top six.

It's probably over already in the minds of the team. Safe from relegation, out of the Cup, outside chance of the playoffs but why bother when you can finish the season early and have a nice long summer holiday

Have to admit we were all baffled last night as to why we had Duffy on the bench. Also thought it was harsh of CW to say only the front two did ok, when Baldock was the best player for us, in an attacking sense. But that goal. jeez, watch it again (if you can bring yourself to), no one marking Dicko, free shot on goal.

What teams seem to be cottoning on to now is that if they close us down quickly, in our half of the pitch, then we are likely to play it long. When we do, the opposition often reclaim the ball, especially when their defenders are bigger than our forwards. We need to move the ball more quickly and find space quickly for the forward pass.

And still, "in the cold light of day", we played like an S6 team, pathetic, we didn't even manage 4 points from a 0-0 win at UL, but by far the most depressing thing for me Is, a Shatkins side beat us!!
Shameful.

I’m a glass half full type boardering happy clapper and I support Wilder 100% and rate him as our best manager since Bassett. That said, I’m never ever going to ignore the obvious and clap away merrily when I think Chris has got it wrong, and last night I think he was as much to blame as the players. I’m also not as in awe of his media interviews as some, I didn’t rate last night’s rant and while I’m at it, I really don’t like it when he tells the bods from Sky and the media that we should be bottom 8 with our budget whenever we get a result. That’s basically saying that the players aren’t good enough but he’s getting them to play above themselves. It might be true but it can’t be good for them, it just boosts his own image.

But we move on, the slates wiped again for me. I hope that he’s here for many a year even though sometime I wonder if he feels the same way.

Fair point. Sorry
