It's been a bit of a shitty year for losing fellow blades.

Early on in the year we saw the sudden, tragic passing of an absolute gentleman and blades legend David Spencer "Shred" . We then had the sad loss of Gem Hale very recently, another blade who loved the team with a passion and followed them home and away.

In addition to this we have lost a couple of former blades players and legends in Alan Woodward and Alan Hodgkinson, both were fabulous players and loyal, lifelong supporters of Sheffield United.

As the year closes tonight, I hope I am not out of line in urging fellow blades to raise a glass this evening in memory of all those that we have lost in the last year. You are gone but you most definitely aren't forgotten.

If anybody would like to add any fellow blades to this thread then please feel free to do so.

Fly Safe Fellow Blades! Gone but never forgotten! UTB!

I would like to add the sad loss of a great Blade and and all round nice guy, Robert "Jess" Jessop. Rob left behind a wife and kids, and is sorely missed by family and friends.

Rob was a regular in the Rising Sun, and in a nice touch, Abbeydale brewery produced special beer mats for his wake, held at the pub, with him in his Sheffield United scarf. They even renamed his beloved Moonshine Ale as "Cheers Jess" for the day.

RIP Robert Jessop, a top Blade and an all round lovely bloke.

I would also like to add David Guest, who died just before Christmas. Dave was a life long Blade, former amateur player and avid golfer. RIP Dave Guest.
