He's just come off injured already. Oh well.
Was it a bad one? I literally just turned W9 on as he was coming off. Figured I’d have a quick look to see what all the fuss was about… meh! And the team looks pretty ordinary, definitely an heart ruling the head situation Hecky was right.
And now… Guendouzi has just come on! Remember his stint at Arsenal! 🤣

This is perhaps why he had difficulty making his mind up about going? Who knows.
The other side may be that there’s no guarantee the dream move to his boyhood club would come around again. As I’ve said on another thread, you only have to look at JOC to see how cruel things can be despite the levels of talent, potential, expectations and ambitions you have. Maybe he was caught in two minds about whether now was the right time to move, but this offer was there for him now, and who knows whether it might never have happened again, for all sorts of reasons.
I think he always knew he was going and him and his agents used us as the proverbial “stalking horse” to get a better deal.

You are right that it’s a short career and I’ve no issue with players wanting to make the most of it but if it really was all down to love for OM I think he should have backed himself to have a go in the PL or at one of the better European clubs and gone there in his late 30s like Roy Keane at Celtic. Who knows though.

I suppose if you don’t drink you need to find other ways to piss away the best days of your career :)

It didn't look too bad, just seemed to pull up and hold his calf/hamstring.

Just imagine if we’d lost him to a hammy against Stuttgart, no illy and no £20m to do owt about it

Wish him well overall. Do hope goes on to do ok! After all we want some sell on few!

Yeah way he's gone is a bit bitter taste but he gave his all whilst he was here. I do think it was a tough decision for him too. Let's not look like bitter bastards to quote Alan Partridge.

As hecky says though we move on now!

I don’t. I want him to struggle to settle, be played out of position and have a bit of a shit season.
All so that he wants to come back on loan to play under Hecky and be happy again after we stay up.

Well played to all the Blades giving both barrels to Marseille tonight. Definitely spotted a wild Katzenjammer in there 😂

Need to do it on the French account, all those trolling us will be following the French account and possibly not the English account.

Fair play to everyone though 👏

If they get a bad result next week in Champs League qualifier even I will become a childish troll and hit their French account

Instant Karma is going to get you! Imagine if we had spunked all our money on him and built a team around him and he did his hamstring against Stuttgart

It’s the smallest and pettiest of consolation prizes but it is funny to see all the blades swarming every OM tweet with pictures of Benie, the McBurnie bucket hat meme and various other blades related memes. Keep going lads.

He has never once acted in a manner that suggests he’s that kind of person. I reckon he half wanted to stay. Well maybe 45% of him.

He’s not a bad egg and should not be viewed that way. The one team he has openly spoke about wanting to play for came in for him. That would be so difficult to turn down for anyone in that situation. It’s just a shame they came in so soon for him.

I was told a week after the season ended by someone with close links to the top that there was going to be no talks with N'Diaye
as his agent said it didn't matter what we offered.....he'd been approached by Marseille and was keen to join them no matter what.
I was also told that the sticking point for N'Diaye was financial security relating to relegation clauses. Apparently Marseille told him they don't insert relegation clauses....we were willing to offer him massive (for us) wages but of course there would be a substantial decrease if we were relegated.
I was also told N'Diaye was easily one of the lowest paid players at the club and hasn't made much money in the game yet.

Let's not forget that Olympic Marseille are traditionally the biggest club in France with the biggest support. Last season Marseille finished 3rd and averaged 62,739, this is the highest average gate ever achieved in the French League. Two other regular Senegal internationals play at Marseille, so it must be a really attractive proposition to join them. Was surprised when I heard he's probably staying as I just assumed he'd be sold, as long as we received a decent bid.

Also has anyone thought he might prove to be a flop at Marseille and struggle in the French league.
Some players thrive on being the main man and playing regular football, where as at Marseille he might be more of bit part player, which might lead to him losing form and confidence. The question is if Marseille are keen to get rid in 2 or 3 years then would we have him back?

Maybe traditionally, but not ever going to be the biggest club in france whilst PSG are about

Yep. Strolling down the Moor or Marseilles promenade, hardly a difficult choice.
Walking through the Peak District or one of Sheffield's many parks or walking through the low lit dangerous suburbs of Marseilles.

Not saying Sheffield doesn't have it's areas of improvement but you could make such contrasting statements about most places.

Play for someone who has nurtured you or and supported your growth or play for someone who has blackmailed you to join by stating if it's not now, then it's never.

Got what they wanted but unscrupulous. No disrespect, but when he kicks off a few weeks in on 27th of August against Brest and we line up against Man City, he may well be left wondering.

im amazed he doesnt have more confidence in himself. because we all know 1 year in premier league & he could have had the pick of all the top european clubs
I'm biased of course but for me he's twice the player that Brendan Johnson ever will be and he was being linked to a 40m move to Spurs this week.

So Marseilles used a bit of a low move by telling him now or never.

But let's see how this goes because he's ticking the box of pulling on the OM shirt. That's a goal achieved.

But what happens if OM need cash or a team like Barca comes knocking?

He realises he cannot win anything for OM. Then what?

Despite the Farmer's League tag, PSG have almost unlimited resources so only poor recruitment and managerial appointments are going to let Marseille in. So he'll be fighting against PSG domestic dominance. He'll also be outgunned in Europe. After a while and a realisation that he isn't going to win anything there and a Barca or Madrid start being linked, what then?

Walking down the Moor or along the beach in Marseille, play for the club you were with as a kid and that gave you that romantic notion of being a top footballer or stay another season with the club who didn't see fit to offer you a new contract on anything like the money your team mates were on, play against Brest and most likely win in front of 60 odd thousand or get your arse handed to you on a plate by Man City...( I love the Peak District, but just offering a counter view here...) it's all a matter of perspective really...

Have your wife and kid harassed by North African unemployed youths or have local folk ask how you are duck, love etc? 😁

As you say you could go back and forth on this forever!

It all depends on what appeals to him. It seems his wife and kids were very comfortable in Sheffield. They may take to Marseilles but they may also not.

Either way, it won't be our concern anymore so GLTTL and his family. Despite his Portuguese brainfart, he's a nice kid and he never gave us anything less than 100%.

Just hope once he's ticked the home town club box and he wants to win something of note, and Barca comes knocking, that their fans are just as in favour to 'libérer' Starboy.

😉
