I thought the majority of home internet service provider had dynamic ip addresses which change quite regular?

They tend to stay within the same range I believe. Dont shoot the messenger, its just what they told me... :)

Purchase a fixed ip vpn. Then connect to vpn. Then make purchase on ifollow.that way ifollow have the ip you payed on and all future streams will also go through that fixed ip. So even when you go on holiday. Always connect to the vpn 1st before log in on ifollow. Constantly using a variable ip would flag to efl that your using a vpn. Get a fixed ip vpn.

Just had a reply from ifollow saying the games are put up immediately after. Lifesaver so I don't have to get up at 3am!

Here's what they said:

Video archives will be available throughout the season immediately on PC and Mac following the conclusion of the game.
Mobile Apps will be available later in the season and video archives will be available via these app 2-6 hours after the end of games.

That's a totally different response to what goatherder posted yesterday. Have they changed their policy?

Who did you get this reply from Sheffielder83?

My email came from Jessica Crook at EFL, the same person at EFL that replied to S5Blade

Can't see how they are going to do that without hundreds of complaints. If you watch a game at your workplace, the ip addresses could be miles from your home. Its saying you would then have to go to work for every game. Different dates and ko times make that impossible. Think that is just a threat with little thought.

So first we were told the mobile app would be ready before the start of the season, now it's "in the next few months". What a fucking shambles. I've paid for a season ticket, but won't have access to their service for the first few months of the season.

That was exactly my question, although my work is in a different country so kind of a weird one.....

Just as a follow up, they emailed me again this morning and said if I purchase it abroad, with a international bank account, I can watch the service in any country and its not restricted to one location.

Just as an FYI, I spoke to ifollow today and asked if I could watch games at work in Gibraltar and at home in Spain and they said that the service when signed up is tied to one physical internet connection, I presume by IP range, so anyone with a VPN may struggle..... Annoying for me that I can't watch while at work tho but also means people going on holiday etc won't be able to watch!

They will also still be broadcasts of games against teams who haven't signed up to the ifollow service which is good news as there are about ten championship teams who haven't!

Having worked in a network team for an ISP for 10 years I can't see this being correct. Your internet IP will change regularly, could be NAT'd to a pool of IP's in the ISP, may be IPv4 or IPv6, ISP ranges could be thousands of IP in size, and on and on yawn yawn yawn. I suspect all they'll do is check where the ranges are registered which is already common practice, hence why the BBC website abroad has adverts. I'd imagine VPNs should work but this must have been thought about before the service was made public. I suspect they may turn a kid eye to it on the basis of revenue but pretend to be doing what they can by restricting how and where you can sign up from - all of which i predict will evolve over time. I'm a remote blade but for now wait on feedback from others with before committing myself on the basis weekend tend to be busy and I won't get time each week to watch the games.

App downloaded, a couple of issues with sound not syncing with video, but I'm sure it'll get sorted

Probably a daft question, but I'm wondering how you can watch a full match replay without knowing the score as currently it shows the score as the caption.

Maybe I'll be getting up at 12am after all, unless You can squint your eyes...!

Get your missus to log into it and click the link to get the replay going and then put it in full screen mode?

Stick a bit of tape on the screen where the score will be before you go to bed

For info to all - I have been playing about with ifollow and my vpn tonight. I had previously signed up to ifollow as an international subscriber through my vpn with a uk credit card and postal address with no problem.

When I now go to ifollow on my laptop via the sufc website if I go to the video archive some of the videos will show, but others such as full match videos have the word "register" on them. When you click on them to register it is very interesting. If my vpn is set to anywhere in the world except the USA I can simply sign in and away I go to watch the video, irrespective of whether it is pointed at France, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong or anywhere. However, if my vpn is set to point at the USA, when I click to register the box for me to sign in simply doesn't appear, and when I move the screen around a bit it says geoblocking.

So it looks to me as though ifollow uses US-sourced technology which knows when a US ip address is coming from a vpn and blocks it. However, it does not know other international vpn-provided ip addresses. Hopefully, therefore, this will be the same for the live games - point your vpn at anywhere but the USA before you log in to ifollow and you should be OK.

My first chance to test this will be the Cardiff game on August 15th - as I go to all the home games and the Boro game is on Sky, and so isn't on ifollow. However, if anybody is going to use a vpn for the Brentford home game I would be interested to hear whether the same behaviour occurs - ie all geographies except the USA are OK.

I will be using a VPN for the Brentford game. I have Private Internet Access which works well for UK TV abroad. I bought IFollow in Portugal with a UK address and Amex credit card linked to UK. After seeing a couple of posts about IFollow checking addresses etc, I changed my address to a Portuguese one. They did not have any telephone number from me, but to be on the safe side I put in a Portuguese mobile number. My VPN does not seem to have any servers in Portugal or Spain so I will probably use a server from France or Holland. I'll report back after the Brentford game.

Great. I'd also be interested to know if you have the same result that I get with a US server.

Also how good is the quality? I'm looking at highlights from Stoke on my tv and the quality is bad. Ok for a few minutes but you wouldn't want to watch a whole match

For me that is typical of the quality I get on Bladesplayer, don't know about if this overseas iFollow service will be the same. Hard to be sure if I'm seeing what you're seeing :) . I'm viewing over wired ethernet not wifi and my broadband speed is reasonable (Netflix HD works fine on it).

It's not anywhere near HD but I find it watchable even for whole game replays and for the £40 a year price I still think it's OK. The overseas offering at £110 for live games sounds dirt cheap IMO even at that quality level.

Ah sorry I didn't see this. I got it direct from iFollow. Please see pic.

This is the reply I got from them yesterday regarding the times of replays. Weird they're giving out conflicting info. Maybe people who have signed up can confirm after this weekend.
