>most were forced to open their doors to the paying public or be sold
they still don't go to work though.. and sell their skills to someone else.. even a bank manager or a lawyer does this.. as an aside i've had endless debates with my daughter who thinks she's middle class 'cos she's a lawyer.. heh.. i've never read marx/engels.. bugger.. i thought i'd invented it myself :D

>If you get a bee in your bonnet about it, you are probably working class
heh . yeah i like that.. personally i'm a reverse snob so although classed as a professional i am staunchly working class.. as my late grandfather used to say (yeah him again.. he had some good phrases though).. 'we might have tv's and cars and mortgages, but relatively speaking we're still living in mud huts outside the castle walls'

I would class myself as working class, because i work for a living, i do the unsociable hours, i take pride in my work and i work bloody hard for the life i live.

If somebody were to invent a way of getting rid of tattoos without leaving a trace they would become a billionaire within ten years in this country.

Fold up skis, that invention would also make a lot of money.

Rather drastic Bert but I know a surgeon who could remove the tattoo in double quick time. Don't have one myself, they provide ideal identification for the plod. Some years ago I paid regular visits to the Barrell on London Road. Even in the height of summer, the barman wore long sleeved shirts. It wasn't that he was cold, just an owl tattoo on his arm. Fortunately he was good at his job and I could jump to the front for serving.
