How would you go about next season and what would your ideal team be (assuming all the players you want are willing to drop down a league/are affordable etc..)
Mine would be:

Lonergan

Freeman Matt Mills Jason Pearce Harris

Che adams M.Bostwick Basham Murphy

Grigg Craig Davies

Keep:
Howard, Alcock, Kennedy, Brayford, J. Wallace, Flynn, Calvert-lewin, Reed, Dimaio, Kahn
Mcnulty ,Done

Release/sell:
Turner, Holt, Scougall, doyle, JCR, baxter, mceveley, coutts, b.davies,
Mcgahey, collins, cuvelier, higdon, george willis, george long

lol i like the optimism, athough i do wonder where on earth you would be expecting to get all the funds needed to sign those players in your starting 11?

It certainly wouldn't be from those you'd release or sell.

I said in the original post, assuming they would drop down etc.. that being including wages and other things
bearing in mind most of those would be on free's anyway so wouldn't require an upfront fee. Also, these are players that
have been regularly talked about on other forums too

If I was a manager I'd be shit and get sacked quicker than Dave Hockaday.
As would all the posters on here.

I try to bear that in mind when criticising those who can do the job.

As I've barely heard of some of those suggestions and of those I do know, I haven't seen play regularly enough nor have suffient knowledge of how they play and what kind of person they are to form an opinion.

Well on Fifa15 I signed Brad Jones on a free transfer from Liverpool then sold him to Middlesbrough in January for £12m which freed up money to sign Bakary Sako, Demarai Gray and Patrick Bamford.

I then signed pre-contract agreements with Charlie Adam, Ben Marshall, Gyasi Zardes, Nathan Baker, Hireleo Gomes and Samuele Longo.

So, i'd just do that

So, that's all good then

If I were manager I'd build the side round these key players: Brayford, Reed, Basham, Done, Murphy, Flynn ( full back first stage of season), J.Wallace.

I'd settle for Howard to help keep to budget, he's not our worst player by any means.

I'd spend all my budget on 5 new quality players:

1. a first choice striker to complement Done in a 4-4-2 maybe on loan. plus a quality "back up striker" e.g. Davies.

2. two strong central defenders but still hope Kennedy gets fit. one maybe on loan.

3. a midfield organiser, maybe even a 30+ year old leader with some pedigree. ( if that's supposed to be Coutts he has some improving to do)

I'd reduce the squad to 23 plus development players so 10 existing players would make up the numbers:

Freeman, McEveley, McNulty, Adams, Scougall, Harris, Alcock , Kennedy, Long, Diego.

It's easy to see from the final "support player "list that the five new signings are key to lifting the competitiveness of the squad if we are to challenge for automatic promotion. The rebuilding project needs at least that sort of boost even though we are19 months into it.

The first thing i'd do is get a decent scouting system in place, people who know our division plus the 2 below. To add to the squad we already have i'd add 2 blood & guts centre halves, a guard dog in midfield (a la Vinny), a pacy winger (Done?) & a big'un up top at side of Che. We get out of this league playing 4 4 2 THEN start to experiment once we're out. come on Mr Clough you know it makes sense.

Buy the DVD of Bournemouth's last season sit the squad down and show it to them and tell them "that's what I want you to do"

Anyone of them not capable of playing that high tempo fast moving box to box football would be out on their ear.

First XI in a diamond midfield 4-4-2

GK: Howard
LB: Brayford
CB: Mills
CB: Whitbread
RB: Harris
DMC: Basham
LW: Cox
RW: Murphy
AMC: Wallace
ST: Madden
ST: Done

I'd try and bring in Matt Mills, Zak Whitbread and Steve Davies (as back up) on free contracts but Dean Cox and Paddy Madden would command fees.

I'd try and move on:

Baxter
Alcock
Higdon
JCR

Leaving a senior squad of:

Howard
Long
Freeman
Brayford
Whitbread
McEverley
Mills
McGahey
Harris
Flynn
Cox
Murphy
Wallace
Basham
Scougall
Reed
Done
Madden
Davies

Loans to be used to supplement the above squad.

I'd also bring in Shane Nicolson as fitness coach who has been released by Chesterfield, as the current fitness coach/team is a joke.

If I was the manager I would line up my team like

Johnstone
Brayford Flint turnbull Harris
Reed basham
Murphy Scougall Ward
Done

That would cost us about £2.5 million+ which is probably a bit too much

The main problem as I see it is there are too many comedians on this board .........:)

No recognised CB pairing , No recognised CF until JTW . You have got to laugh. Any comedians on the board that counts , wont be laughing . Its put your hand in your pocket money time again .

Don't know about the quality of this guy but there's certainly something wrong so may as well +1 this

As far as players, bring in three centre backs and two central midfielders - one of the centre backs being on loan from a higher division, same as one of the midfielders, pick out a young Premier kid that can add creativity. Sign Kingsley Onuegbu from Duisburg, just promoted out of the equivalent league we're in, 6'3" built like brick shithouse striker, failing that get the ex-Villa kid that Blackpool just released

If i was manager , after this season . Before i started picking the team , i would thank my lucky stars , i am still in the job , to do it,

I'd pick myself and not really care about much else because I'd finally be playing for United. Boyhood dream come true - and finally a chance to show them why they should have plucked me from obscurity 30+years ago.

All those team selections..

Has everyone forgot about Coutts?

If I were Clough I would enrol on a public speaking course so as not to come across as such a negative monotonous twat on Radio Pig

Don't forget to spend any remaining proceeds on a youth scout, who will find you no end of continental gems that will surely be of no interest to much bigger clubs.

If I were Clough I would only speak in a succession of snorts and oinks so as to be completely intelligible to listeners of Radio Pig. Or speak Klingon. PS 4-4-2 please.
