He was a lynchpin in much the same way that Coutts was earlier this season. He still didn't tackle much, but his reading of the game meant he was often in the right place to block opposition passes anyway.

*In this instance, 'evolved' means he didn't change at all but we all began to open our eyes and see what he brought to the team.

I get that, in a poor game between 2 even teams a goal scorer will always stand out.

But this was David vs Goliath, league 1 defenders up against some of the best players on the planet.

To keep that Man City attack out for 90 minutes is an almost impossible task, only twice had they failed to score in either league or cup this season.

It was an incredible defensive performance, to stay switched on from the 1st minute to the last & never give them time or space in the final 3rd was fantastic to watch.

So to then give the MOM to the striker seemed like a slap in the face to me. I realise the defenders probably couldn't care less, but it still annoyed me haha

The least surprising news yesterday was that John Lundstram won the Man Of The Match award. Not because he was the best player (he did OK) but because he scored a goal. It seems to be every home game the award goes to the goalscorer. How many at the game actually text in to name a Man Of The Match?

I think you are missing the point that a vast majority of our fan base aren't actually that intellectual, nor do they understand everything that goes into a game of football. For example, if Billy Sharp or David Brooks are nominated, Billy Sharp or David brooks win the award.
